Thanks for your reply Mystic!

Glad you liked them all Boris. Thanks for your detailed reply! I will probably print a couple big and see what they look like.

It's interesting to see such an assortment of different preferences. #2 was the only one that didn't receive any votes. It was my least favorite out of the first three also, especially since #3 was the same composition and also had the warmer light with the added bonus of the duck + "V". So out of the first three, #3 was the favorite with #1 not too far behind. #5 was preferred over #4, but the votes were almost equal.

Of the first three, I've decided to work up #3 for a print, but I'm still trying to decide between #4 and #5. I like the sunset color on the water better in #4, but I like the shoreline light, composition, and cleaner sky better in #5. I'm leaning towards #5, but I may print both and compare.

Thanks again, everyone, for your opinions! Much appreciated.

Fresh snow landscapes are so beautiful. The light in the last two, Georg, make them outstanding, imo!

Hi Matthew,

Thanks for commenting. Yes, it's nice to know another Pentaxian in N. Arizona! I've been wanting to do some shooting over in your area. Hopefully, I'll be able to start venturing a little further afield this Spring. I have much exploring I wish to do in Arizona. :)

Hi Matthew,

Nice series. Even with the SR, you did a great job of hand holding the low light shots!

I appreciate the feedback Bruce!

Hi Heinrich,

I appreciate your comment. I was torn between #4 and number #5, but I'm leaning towards number five because of the light and sky. Hope you are doing well.

They are all nice Jim, but the first one stands out for me because of the color and 3-dimensional feel.

Hi Tamia,

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I like #3 too for some of the same reasons you mention. I wish I could combine the best elements of the first three photos...the light and cloud formations were changing quickly.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for your comments. I felt a foreground was needed, but from this location was grappling with tripod placement and how much foreground to include without making it distracting. I'm not sure I understand your comment about the horizon, because #4 looks to have the most centered horizon.

Thanks for your feedback!

Watson Lake is a nice place to explore and spend time. This spot is about a mile walk and is pretty quiet other than noises made by various waterfowl. As far as smells...just fresh desert mountian air. :)

Hi All,

Been a while since I've posted. After a cross-country move from Arkansas to Arizona, I'm just now starting to get out and shoot a bit. I'm glad to see some familiar names still on this forum, and hope you all are doing well.

If possible, I'd appreciate some feedback on which of the following photos you prefer and why.

Thank you!

Sorry if I wasn't clear regarding panning. The big (only) knob loosens the ball and lets you adjust in any direction, including panning. Some, more expensive ball heads have a separate panning adjustment that rotates the base without having to loosen the ball. Hope that clears things up.

Item for Sale
Manfrotto 486RC2 Ball Head

Asking Price
$40 USD

Item Location
Arkansas, USA

Item Description
I recently upgraded to a much more expensive ball head, so no longer need this Manfrotto 486RC2 compact ball head. It includes the original packaging and quick release plate. Operates as new.

This is an excellent compact, yet basic ball head that will hold your camera tightly. It does not have separate friction or panning adjustments found in more expensive ball heads, but if you don't need those features, it's a great deal.
