I'm having blur on the left... Is it normal for this lens, or should I send it to service? May it be repairable without special tools? Sending to service could take months :(

I did it finally! Maybe it will be interesting:

Actually, I fixed the button itself a little without desoldering first, and it worked somehow more or less for almost half a year.

biz-engineer, amp, the problem is that i cant enter menu! I even switched to manual focus, but even then only few buttons work: shutter button, video swither and front/back dials, all back buttons dont work! you may try to do any operations while holding AF button and imagine the disaster...
Is there any person from authorized service? I swear not to distriobute the manual elsewhere :) I can try to open it with no manual, but there must be some hidden locks i dont want to damage.

I have AF button broken (always pressed) so i cant do almost nothing! Sending to service will take monthes, but this time is gold monthes for shooting, can't stop all work. Does anybody have service manual for this camera? Or some instruction to open case to reach back buttons?

---------- Post added 04-23-16 at 03:47 PM ----------

even if i will need some parts to replace, i need to release the button, it will allow me to make shoots, even with limited functionality

While shooting events, one can use several cameras to be ready for any occasion, for example tele and wide lens. As for me, I like to use Tamron 10-24 with my K-5 for capturing whole scene or to be inside some action, and any prime lens to capture single persons and their emotions, and for occasional portraits with K-3, depending on the location. Befor such combo shooting, one must ensure time syncronization, go to the time settings and update time to the same values on both bodies. After the great shootimng time, while processing, put all files in the same folder and then process with any software with the file renaming option, to have filename like Hour-Minute-Second.jpg, it will ensure all files will have the same sequence as it was shooted.

Dear friends! After shooting event this weekend I must say remapping wheels solved the problem greatly, but not fully. about 3% of shoots are still shifted (it was about 10% before), Using AE-L Saved ~80% of these 3%, not bad. Somewhy AE-L was reset from time to time (SD card changing? I failed to notice this moment) Remaining under/over-exposed images could be recovered manually (I used catalog filters to find them), so I think I can stop here for now, without any physical changes to the body.

It will cover the shutter button as well!

So I need to open the camera body? Are you sure there are some screws for it? I think there must be some solder, clips and glue. I tried opening mouse wheel, there is no option to change friction

I understand what you are talking about, i have a good visual imagination :)

I just did it, as the least complicated solution, will try this weekend at the event, if it will not help signifiantly, will try to make something to cover dials!

Thanx for all replies!
I can hardly imagine using remote, wired or wireless or flucard tethering, as I need to reframe, rotate camera, and to move myself from time to time. It's good solution for studio, but not the best for sport events.

you gave me an idea (with the help of other users ideas) to remap dials so the aperture dial will be in front and exposure in back, so with manual aperture exposure dial will be in safer position! But not all my lens allow it ((

Sorry, I dont :) But most of the errors are caused by me changing the camera (i use one tele and one normal lens with k3 and k5 simultaniously) or some other movements, not during the continous shooting, so I think i hold camera in the right way ))

One of the best ideas so far )))

Unfortunately, there are cases when it does not work. For example, when the person of interest is constantly illuminated, but background changes.

Hello, friends!

Is anybody facing the same problem: I often shoot in constant light conditions (studio shoots or concerts/sport events) and use M mode. But when shooting, I suddenly touch wheel dials. And I have tens of under- or overexposed images before I notice the fault. Of cource, if it's not more than 1/2-1 EV, it's recoverable when working with RAWs, but it's not very good for batch processing, and sometimes i need fast results (JPEGs) for press, for example, and it becomes a real problem.

So, the question is: how to lock the wheels?
The gear is: K3&K5
