Built-in flash stuck on

I see the "pin" that the flash holds down while (the flash is) on the down position never did try if holding it down manually will disable the flash. Maybe you have to push the "catch" back also as you push the "pin" down? There might be something wrong electrically. Although the catch is mechanical in nature, actuating it is an electrical thing.

Yeah, as Fosforito said, the Nikon version works with the flash wake-up so I was curious as to the Canon version if it did the same.

Does Pentax have any lens like this ever??

I would want to bid on it if the price was still a bit below the reserve price just to say I bid on a high ticket!
I'm afraid to bid now since after I bid, it might reach the reserve price and nobody bids anymore. I'd be sooooo "$@&*#" up!
Image seem to be matched by the Pentax DA 15.
It would seem that they are just paying for the rarity and history of the lens.
Good luck to the buyer not the seller!
I would be afraid to have/own such a ridiculously expensive lens that might get fungus or haze.

How does the FotodioX M42 adapter perform?

You can place Loctite on it since there are two kinds, the permanent and semi-permanent (colored blue and the other one red).
I think the Loctite red is the permanent one. You could use the Loctite blue so that if you have a change of mind, you can still release the M42 adapter.

Choosing Batteries for Flash

If you want Rayovacs, they also have their own rechargeable batteries and they are also of the "hybrid" kind or the slow discharge ones like the Sanyo Enelopps. They cost cheaper than the Eneloops too.

How does the FotodioX M42 adapter perform?

Buy any of the M42 adapters that are cheap so you can have several of them and permanently mount them on the lenses you plan to use. Do not use the flanged ones or the ones you have on your link.
There are M42 adapters that sell even below $10. As already adviced, take off the screw and the clip (these get stuck on the camera) if you plan to permanently mount them on your M42 lens.
The M42 lens would essentially become like your regular K-mount lens that you easily mount and dismount on the camera without the hassle of the adapter being left inside your camera or the adapter being stuck on your camera (as with the case of the cheap adapters).

Thanks Rick for the referral.
I'm trying out the email route first since it is harder to call.
Precision camera can reply to my email at their own time if the phones are always busy.
I gave them the make and model of my DSLR and the serial of course together with the work order number they gave me at Criscam and the customer number provided for me from Criscam too.
I hope they can find my K50 DSLR. It's kinda hard not being able to use my camera when in the first place I bought that immediately for the purpose of being excited and using it for a grand reunion.
Alas, it broke down even before the event and it's taking a long time to repair it.
The price of the K50 has gone down now several times since I bought mine brand new.
I'm being regretful of buying and upgrading to that K50 now which is out of commission and as good as a paper weight since I can't use it. :( :(

Well, after about 3 months now, I still have no news as to what happened to my camera and when it is going to be repaired after Criscam sent it to Precision Camera.
This is very sad and worrysome as to the status of the repairs. :(

Sent in my K50 early July and when I track repairs from CRIS, it says also that it was shipped to another facility.
So, I guess the repair will take longer than I thought. =(

Pentax K50 mirror flopping

Sent out mine to RICOH/PENTAX for repairs but before I sent it it and haven't touched it for a week, I checked it out to be sure that it was still malfunctioning.
To my surprise, when I started it up and tried it before boxing it up, lo and behold, it was acting normal.
Ran it trough the paces and even changed lenses to "F" and "FA".
After a couple of shots, it showed a slight malfunction with a little flop during LV and the viewfinder was dim when looking through it.
This malfunction is crazy intermittent so I hope that they see or experience it at Pentax repairs.
I still sent it in for repairs since this malfunction was really disturbing and not normal.

Pentax repairs at Chandler, AZ has already received my camera according to the USPS tracking but I haven't heard a word from them yet.

Pentax K50 mirror flopping

My "mirror flop" problem on my K50 is exactly the same as what was featured here or illustrated on the video. THAT is just not the problem though as WITH this comes the dark aperture or the aperture doesn't fully open when you look into the viewfinder. The camera also CAN'T turn off, that you need to pull out the battery to really turn it off. The "mirror flop" thing with the K50 though is not as quick and multiple unstoppable mirror flopping as with the K3. With the K50, it flops about 3 to 4 times when you turn it on, then does the same thing when you take a photo..with the taken image having a wrong exposure (mostly over exposed).
I still need to contact Pentax/Ricoh about this as their office hours is only Monday thru not help for people who need their camera repair problems needed to be taken cared off immediately when one's only day off is only the weekends.

With this kind of thing happening, I feel like my world suddenly collapsed. MK50 being now being worthless compared to my experience with my K100D Super that has served me well and haven't broken down EVER!

Thanks Joe for all the input! I do appreciate this..and Fila, I would have mine serviced too. I just contacted my dealer and I'm already too far ahead in months to return this so I will have to have mine serviced under manufacturer warranty.
I will contact Ricoh/Pentax this week. The sooner the better.
Fila, if you don't mind, what did they actually service. Did they replace anything or say what exactly was wrong with it?

---------- Post added 07-01-2014 at 06:45 PM ----------

But this is ridiculous Joe. This is a new camera. This shouldn't be happening

---------- Post added 07-01-2014 at 06:47 PM ----------

The thing is when I turn it on and the mirror flops, I can't turn it off again. It is happening as we speak.
Also when this is happening, non of the other buttons won't preview or the "menu" won't work, etc.

Hi Joe. I tried taking out the lens (DA 18-135mm) then reattaching again. It still does the same thing.
I also tried to attach another lens (F 35-70mm), all it did was zoom in and out of focus.
I took that off and cleaned the contacts and reattached it again. It worked for a couple of seconds then went back to the same flopping and not being able to focus.
This is frustrating since this is my first upgrade since my K100D Super, which worked without any problems from the time I bought it up till now (I .mean the K100D Super was flawless).

HEELLLLPPPP! My K50 is doing exactly the same thing as in the video!
This just happened today after I took my K50 out of the bag to take a photo after one week!

---------- Post added 07-01-2014 at 06:18 PM ----------

First thing I noticed when I turned it on was the mirror flop, then when I looked into the viewfinder, it was dark (not totally dark) and it had a had time focusing.
I tried turning it on, then off..same thing.
After a while, it won't turn off anymore and I had to take out the battery to turn it off.
I thought this thing never affected K50's!??

You can use regular eye-fi or eye-fi mobi.
I have the eye-fi mobi and use it with my K50 (almost the same as K30).

K-50 or K-500 or K-5 II

I had the K100D Super for the longest time and felt that the K50 is the upgrade I was waiting for. I got the one with the 18-135 WR bundle. I really like the K50 and feel that like my previous K100D Super, it would take a while before I upgrade again with the features that come with this (K50) DSLR.
I still use the K100D Super occasionally, though, as it is my first love DSLR!
K50 is also newer than the K5II/s. If you want a battery grip then opt for the K5II/s.
I love my K50. =)

Camera storage in a car.

I also don't leave my equipment in the car as it becomes tempting for thieves.
If needed though, always remember that hot air goes up, so keeping your camera as low to the ground/floor as possible will keep it at its coolest. Never ever forget to cover it with shopping bags or keep it under the car seats to avoid eyes of thieves.

I also never put it in the trunk as the trunk is the easiest to open and usually is not connected to the car alarm. The alarm would at least deter thieves a bit.

Take both but I'm sure you might use the 18-55mm kit more as a wide lens for me is always needed. Wide specially for landscapes or to get more of the scenery in (the photo). Plus the kit lens isn't so bad.
If you want to get artsy or shots that you think are important or would want to get large prints for, then use the 50mm and just zoom out with you feet.
The kit would be a great walk around lens though and would save you from changing lenses all the time which also will get you quick shots and not lose a shot from changing lenses.

Ivan, I'm guessing that all the models that can accommodate a separate battery grip, (since battery grip can have an AA adapter too) where not given the AA battery adapter option in-body, hence the models K10D, K20D, K7, K5 variants and the for the K01, it was supposed to be a competitor for the other mirrorless brands so to keep it small, the hand grip wasn't made deep, so can't be given the configuration of the "L" AA battery adapter (to fit the deep grip), but the K01 was given the higher capacity battery of the K7 and K5 series to compensate for this.
Much like the entry level or mid-level Pentax DSLR's like the K100D series was given the AA batteries.
The K30 and K50 would have been ideal if it was made like the K200D which was WR which also accommodated a battery grip.
Maybe the next model K70(?) would be modeled after the K200D and would have a separate proprietary battery grip much like the Pentax flagships.
