Exakta VX1000 with Shackman Instruments LTD plate on the back?

I'm trying to figure out why a Exakta VX1000 would have a Shackman Instruments LTD plate on the back door, I'm not sure if someone just stuck that one many years ago or did the company have something to do with the cameras assembly?

It has it's own serial number and type and the camera has it's serial number inside the backdoor.

Curious if anyone would know why?

Rolleiflex 2.8E3 model that I picked up

I was lucky enough to pickup a Rolleiflex 2.8E3 last week at auction, although hard to tell by the auction photos it looked in good condition.

Was amazed when I got it that the camera looked like new and some history in the camera bag.

Bought by a Doctor 1963 in Newcastle, 3 stubs off of old rolls used and one unopened box of film, (one roll of film still loaded).

Could anyone suggest a Rolleiflex specialist to look this over, it's quite rare with only 2025 made of the 2.8E3 model. Ideally in Scotland as I'm nervous just handling it and wasn't keen on popping it in the post.

Pentax 15mm f3.5 Aspherical Lens

Oh my I thought it was 400 made, even more rare then pschlute!

I'm now seriously thinking about driving down to London to pick it up in person as the Pentax specialist received the lens package in this condition today, even though I went to great lengths to explain to the post office how rare the item was and made sure it was marked fragile, insured etc.

Thankfully I had it well packaged and it's not damaged.

That's such a shame Sandy :(

I would 100% be keeping the lens if wide angle photography was my thing and would only be displayed, seems such a shame and I feel someone should get use of it.

Apart from a few specs of dust in the front element it's in good condition, (no fungus), I gave it a good look over at the weekend and tried it out on one of my Pentax SLR's, it's a joy to use :)

Pentax 15mm f3.5 Aspherical Lens

I managed to pickup one of the rate pentax 15mm f3.5 aspherical lenses last week at auction, (part of a lot).

I knew the lot had a Pentax 15mm f3.5 in the box, however it was in an old case and there was no pictures of the lens itself.

As luck would have it the lens is one of the illusive Aspherical versions, of which my understanding is only 400 were made before Pentax switched the aspherical element for a spherical one due to production costs?

I've shipped it off to a Pentax specialist to asses and CLA, but don't have intentions on holding onto it, (wide angle photography has never been my thing).

Apologies for the long-winded post, but how can you put a value on something so rare? Appreciate somethings only as valuable someones prepared to pay, but given its rarity I don't even know where to start putting a price on it?

The elements look in good shape, although I can see someone has in the past either tried to remove the front element or removed it.

That's great gatorguy!

I've still much to learn with film photography, developing and printing, however enjoying the whole process and learning all the time :)

Thanks Jonathan, I don't dislike digital, honest ;)

Felt at the time of my life I was ready to go back to black and white film and do my own prints, which I hadn't done for about 40 years. It's a fun process :)

Hi all,

I gave up digital photography this year and started collecting vintage cameras, starting with a Pentax K1000 and Pentax KX, along with various lenses. I've been doing photography as a hobby for about 16 years now and really enjoying film photography, developing my own negs and making prints :)
