Camera are so good these days I'm starting to think that the only reason to upgrade is ... just for the sake of upgrading lol. I've had my K3 since the end of 2014 and even though I'd like a K1, I just can't convince myself to go out and get one. The K1 is a superb camera from what the reviews say, but in all honesty, do I really need it? Probably no ....

I don't post here that much sorry, but here is mine ... a guardian deity at Omiya-Hachiman shrine in Tokyo. The pic was taken with the K-3 and the lens was the HD 21mm.

Thanks kindly for the comment. But how to meter? Select a focus point? Do HD? I doubt my brain could adapt to these things! Like, most of the stuff is manual, right?

I love looking at these film cameras, but I would doubt my ability to be able to use one!

I've had my own blogged, Around Tokyo, for nearly 5 years. I've been living in the city for 20 years and it has quite a bit to offer anyone who visits here which I wanted to show people. I often rewrite articles and redo the photos (as I buy new cameras) so it isn't nearly as big as what it should be.

Thanks redcat! Currently reshooting a lot of it, as a part of my "growing" process. A lot of the older photos were really silly and so I'm in the process of redoing a lot of them. And I hope you get to visit Tokyo one day as there is a lot to see here especially for those of us who love photography.

Don't expect big things from it Redcat as my own photography is not that great. The blog is located at AROUND TOKYO or you can just Google, "Around Tokyo".

I couldn't agree more. It is all about the subject, how many people are interested in that subject and how well you can work social media. I'm sure we've all seen stuff on social media and wondered how on earth it got so many likes, favs or shares. If you want to make it in the public world surely you have shoot what is popular to appeal to the larger group, or have a group behind you that will help make your work popular. However, we also need to remember that what might be popular doesn't necessarily mean good.

I'm sure they do sell more Pentax in Japan than in the rest of the world, but I hardly ever see them. I go to a lot of car shows, movie festivals, shoot lots of stuff around Tokyo, but almost never see Pentax.

I live in Japan and I started photography nearly 5 years ago and bought my first Pentax, a K30, fours ago, followed by a K3 last year. Since I got that first Pentax, I've had exactly one conversation with a fellow Pentaxian, which happened this year. Over my four years of shooting I only rarely see our favourite brand of camera. However, when do see see them, it is usually with girls who I feel love the colour options available with certain models.

I started a blog nearly 4 years ago, and it is only over the last few months that I've got some nice comments about my photos which makes me feel like I've progressed somewhat. As I'm doing a blog, I'm not really shooting for myself, but for my readers, so their opinion about my shots is important.

Hama-Rikyu Gardens is one of my favourite places to shoot in Tokyo. I love the contrast between the city outside and the tranquility of the park within. Taken with my 18-135mm in June this year.

Today I went to the Pentax shop in Nishi-Shinjuku, Tokyo to get them to help me with updating my firmware on my K-3. While I was there I asked if my lens got fairly wet during rain, what kind of material should I wipe it off with especially around the lens area. They told to avoid getting it wet around the lens. The reason being (according to the shop guys) is that there is a chance you can get seepage between the the lens and the seal which would obviously allow water to get into the inside.
I was actually looking forward to shooting in the rain one day, but now I think I will avoid doing that.

Here is a shot I took with my K3 at a shrine in Tokyo recently, Kameido Tenjin, which is famous for its wisteria festival held every May.

Thanks for the advice rawr and Patajac. I think I`ll be going with rawr advice on either auto, which should be safest I think. I`m also thinking Tv and setting the shutter speed to 1/250 might be really good too. As I type I`m thinking Tv and 1/250 is the way to go. Unfortunately this bus ride is just a one off thing, so I won`t have a chance to do a another ride. The only other problem I have is shooting through the windows of this bus, but that mightn`t be able to be solved. Anyway, thanks for the help guys :)

Recently I was asked to do a review of bus ride, which I will do on Monday. The bus ride is a double-decker thing that tourists ride and enjoy watching the sites of a city.
I`ve actually done this once before, but a different course to the one I will do next week and also with a point and shoot compact. However, this will be the first time I do it with a DSLR (i.e. Pentax K-30).
The bus at times will be moving at fairly high speed on freeways etc, and at other times it will be moving at very sedate speeds. As I`m not really a pro yet, I`m quite worried about the camera focusing correctly, especially when the bus is moving quickly.
For AF Active area which would be better: 5 AF points, 11 AF points or spot? I`m thinking spot might be the best, but would like a second opinion.
Similar question about AE metering: multi-segment, center-weighted or spot?
Any thoughts or ideas would be really appreciated :)
