If you like the 35mm focal length you might try out the 35 F/2.4, it is an excellent little lens that could be had for 100 dollars or less used.

K3-ii works good even at night and ISO 12800. Focus depends as much or more on the user, the better you understand the games the better you will be at anticipating what will happen so your looking in the right place at the right time. PS. looks much better on Flickr. FB_IMG2931 by bschriver11, on Flickr .

“Fast and wide” for APS-C?

You say town shooting so i assume like city scape? You would want to close the aperture to get the best quality across the frame from an ultra wide lens anyway so why would you need an F/1.4 lens? Get a tripod and use the timer and you can shoot at the lowest ISO possible and carry a lighter less expensive lens while doing it.

Fox Squirrels have different colorations from region to region, here in Western Maryland they tend to be gray on the back and reddish along the underside with a red bushy tail.

If your looking for a used lens try looking at B&H photo, Adorama, or used photo pro. All are reputable sellers and offer a 180 day warranty on most lenses. The lenses are rated as to the condition and priced accordingly.

I would at least put the lens on camera and do a couple of test shots, you may have an excellent copy of that lens. You might want to keep it and just ask for a replacement part if everything else is good.

For three people go with the 50mm, nice soft head shots near wide open and about as good as it gets stopped down with very little distortion. Not sure where you're located but late afternoon/ early evening should provide for good light.

The 85mm F/1.4 has been the go to portrait lens since forever, the DA* 55/F1.4 was designed to give the same view as the 85MM lens on a crop sensor camera if that helps.

I would say most of us are in the same boat and people only post the few real good ones and the rest get hidden away! I have taken photos at a couple of weddings and i always want decent photos but i'm always looking for that one photo with that "wow" factor. Get some decent hits and a home run and i'm satisfied.

Question regarding Auto-Focus Adjustment in a Pentax K-7.
Posted By bschriver11

Adjust your focus for each individual lens only if it needs it. If a particular lens is back focusing then you would use the + adjustment to move the focus closer, how much depends on how far the back focus is. If your lens is front focusing then you use the - adjustment to move it back and again how much depends on how much in front the lens is focusing. I doubt it would be possible for all lenses mounted on your camera to need a focus adjustment for +10. Set up a focus test chart and with your lens on the largest aperture using the center focus point only put your camera on a tripod and check the focus and if it looks good leave it at zero, if it is in front or behind where it should be then adjust until it is focused where the center point indicates it should be.

I agree with UncleVanya, that is what the focus adjustment in the camera is there for. The camera should remember the lens and adjustment and revert to that every time it is on the camera, just forget about the adjustment and enjoy a fantastic nifty 50.

Why Pentax fps is slow when using flashes?
Posted By bschriver11

The recycle time of that flash is.8-1.8 seconds depending on the power the flash is set at, you can't expect to get 5 frames per second when the flash is not capable of that recycle speed. Nikon, Canon, and Sony flash units also do the same thing as the Pentax and take time to recycle so you can not shoot at high speed with those either. You could probably shoot high speed with a flash but the flash would only fire after it has recycled. What would be the point of shooting five frames a second if the flash is only capable of firing 2-3 times per second, half or more of the photos would never get any light from the flash. The cure for the guy over at Dpreview with the Nikon was that he now understands the flash is only capable of 2-3 frames per second.

So if your lens has a metal mount nothing will break if you drop the camera and lens? Can't say i understand that reasoning? I had the 75-300 for quite some time before purchasing the HD DA 55-300 and while the improved coating made a difference the image quality was surprisingly close and the mount was never ever a problem or even a concern. Don't drop your gear or it will break!!

Do you feel like you are getting the most out of the lenses you have now? If the answer is yes then you will probably benefit from a pro grade zoom, if the answer is no then a pro grade lens will not make you a better photographer.

I would say here in Maryland they have been out of hibernation for awhile. Not sure if the Bear has mange or is just getting it's summer coat and shedding the winter fur?
