It's True that the centre of this lens is great to excellent but the severe problem lies outside the centre. Unfortunately... Could have been a real winner!

No offence but those pictures don't say alot. Show me some High resolution Tiff and then we can talk about sharpness...

Corner sharpness doesn't become irrelevant because someone suddenly starts to ignore it.

Never had Blotchy yellow patches with my D7K.

Image quality on those cams is the same. K5, K30 Alpha 580, D7K, NEX 5N etc... Nobody can tell the difference.

I still have my K5 and love to use it but the reason why i went to nikon is simple. A system that has alot more lenses, support and availability. I use my gear professionaly and i want to be sure about what i invest in. I started with a D7000 after my k5 and bought several lenses that are all FF compatible because i know that's where i want to go in the very near future. That extra image quality of a D600 or D800 will be a very welcome thing for me and my low light shooting. I shoot alot of dance performances and that's where FF iso performance is something i'm really looking forward to.

And sadly, that's where Pentax can not garantuee me any concrete or foreseeable future. Otherwise my investment wouldnt have shifted.
Altough The autofocus and flash system couldnt satisfy me either but it's something i was working myself around. My K5 time i was shooting manual only on Event shootings. :)

Full frame lenses work awesome on DX bodies.

the official number is like 169 nikon lenses vs 90 Pentax lenses vs 162 Canon lenses.

In terms of image quality it's a notch better and it has image stabilization. D7000 has the better autofocus, 2 card slots, better video and a slightly large viewfinder and is alot cheaper atm of course

Oh well they are all great dslr's. And i consider a 18-200 and 35mm An investment. Anyway you loose money..

Stay with Nikon. You are invested in one of the best brands for DSLR's with a much greater availability then Pentax and a much wider selection of lenses and gear.
you can get a D7000 for 900Dollars right now wich is just a bit over the K30 price and is arguably still the best APS-C dslr out there ...

You ll loose morey money if you have to restart a whole new system imo.

K5IIs, is it worth the risk?

In my opinion it isn't worth the extra money. No real difference to the eye in terms of detail rendition but there IS a visible problem with moire as tests have shown.

To Coruscate my dictum: Save that money for a sharper lens instead :)

Pentax did a decent job on the image processing part.

Here are a the 3 Key cameras that has proven that sensors worth from the get go

DxOMark - Compare cameras side by side

3 brands with the same (sony) sensor, all small differences in the end result. Basicly any camera with that sensor will provide great image quality.

I dont have to work for Nikon to know they are working on their successors. ;) And you are probably right...they are bashing their heads on the wall as well to get that same significant leap in 'image performance' from Pentax all Nikon APS-C shooters are waiting for...

No offence but the couple of points in "dxo mark" you are talking about are negligible and everybody with a little sense instead of being a fanboy will vouch for that. And trust me, i shot with both cameras for some time now. The difference in practice is non existing.

Image quality is not the issue here. Neither for pentax nor nikon. And any succesor for both brands will eventually use the same 'sony sencor' anyway with perhaps your score difference in DXO by one or 2...who cares sir?

Pentax has to catch up with autofocus and their flashsystem as well as support and availabilty for example, where nikon does an excellent job.

Nobody is perfect. But no, Nikon is in no way sitting there wondering how to beat pentax "APS-C image performance" by a point in DXO mark. They are preparing a worthy succesor for their own.

PS: I start with "no offence" out of politeness and perhaps Caution in the first place ;) :D

No offence but Nikon already has the D7000 for several years. It's not like they have to drag anything down but their own D7K since it's already a very awesome DSLR and on par with the K5 in the image quality department.

Thanks for taking the time to take a look and comment everyone. I'm glad you like some of them!

Nr1: Indeed the natural colors. I tryed to keep them as real as possible. Just some extra contrast and saturation here and there. Shooting with a remote flash really made the light, colors and contrast reallly intresting on the subjects.

Nr2: I believe so..

Thanks and yes it wasnt easy at all...I'm just 27 though and still very active physically so still fine :p! I do plan to post some others very soon! :)
