Welcome! Kerrowdown speaks wisdom. The K-1 is a fantastic camera, and it doesn't suddenly go bad just because an upgrade is announced :)

And remember, no matter what you buy, there will always be one new one. Always. That's the nature of the industry. Be happy with what you have, upgrade when there is a compelling reason to do so.

In short, don't worry, go out and shoot!

Yes, I know - I'm a pro, after all. But a humble one. Very humble. One could almost say self-effacing.

And you forgot the "Your Highness" :hmm:

Nah, I've registered that there are some people sliding around on snow over there, and that there are some Norwegians sliding faster or better or whatever. I see it as yet more proof that the six months called "winter" are an utter waste of time and completely useless for doing anything meaningful. So people spend this time sliding around on snow. There is an annual long-distance cross-country skiing thing here which they limit to 16,000 participants. With those numbers it's hardly surprising that some of them get good at it ;)

Birkebeinerrennet - Wikipedia

Me, I spend that time here on PF - and one might say that I'm getting quite good at it

I believe a statue would be more suitable.

And keep those darts away, young man :hmm:

Cocky? Me?

I'm Norwegian, remember. We're humble. We're the humblest in the world!

I will take that exactly the way it was intended

I was thinking more along the lines of "Your Highness", but be rude if you must :hmm:

But I'll settle for "Your Cockiness" in this company

And thanks, all! It's fun to see the result - but it was, as I said, just a snapshot I took as an experiment when it was too foggy to see anything anyway.

Hey, "my" banners are up promoting an exhibition in Nantes, France :) They've placed those viking ships onto a picture I snapped with the GR on a foggy day here in Oslo.

I expect more respect from you rabble now that I'm a pro!

Well, I meant in actual use, not just that they work. While your Spotties might be in use, I suspect a lot of the old(er) digital cameras aren't - at least that they are so to a less degree by far than smartphones are.

a Full-Frame System MILC to boost Pentax market share...

Market share isn't everything, especially not in a shrinking market. Increasing your market share by entering new market segments is expensive, both in R&D and in marketing. If Pentax' existing products are hardly known it will take a huge investment to get going in a new segment. In a shrinking market they might never be able to recuperate, never mind make a profit, no matter the market share.

When companies are reluctant to make such systems I think they have their reasons.

Not necessarily. The sale of new phones might be in decline, but the number of phones in use most probably isn't. Can the same be said for dedicated cameras? Maybe - or maybe not. I don't know.

Your latest acquisition

My latest acquisition is a pre-owned large Wacom Intuos 4 tablet. It was rather larger than I had anticipated! But what a joy to use - so much better than the tiny Bamboo I had previously. Those programmable buttons along the edge are very nice to have.

Like this one (not my picture).

Yeah, my main driver would be to get to new surroundings more than actually visiting the metro stops. And having thought some more about it I think a year would be minimum. From my experience with the Daily challenge I know I will get into a slump every 2-3 months and will need a break. There is no reason to think a longer project will fare any better. Also, this time of year it's cold and dark which will raise the threshold further with the increased hassle and discomfort. OTOH, there is no hurry. It's not as if the metro is running away :)

Yep, that's the same here. Water's on roughly from May to end of September, I think. I haven't found much info on the fountains in this city other than a reference to there being 66 of them run by the city. I have sent off a request to the city council to see if they have a list or map available.

Definitely easier to plan the travelling for a metro project! And as my buss pass is valid on the metro as well there will be no cost involved :)

An old power station that is no longer in use. The dam on the other side is good for a swim, although most prefer to use it in warmer seasons.

Neither have I... But sure, saving real money works, too! It might even work better...

You got it. There are rules to not smoking ;)

But more seriously, this way of thinking does help me put things into perspective, to justify spending money on the things that matter to me (provided I actually have the money - or I need to save up first).

Let's not get unrealistic here! Nobody smokes 1,000 a day :D

But I think 60 a day for a year would get you a nice kit. At least around here a pack of 20 costs about $15. $15 x 3 x 365 = $16,425

Have you clicked the Buy button yet??

That would be breaking the law. Umm, sort of

No, I'll let tobacco finance my GAS ;)

Sure, but I like knowing roughly what I'm looking at. I don't want to set off thinking it quickly done just to smash into the brick wall of reality :) But yeah, it's all about enjoying the journey and see ones own city.

Nice! When will you start?! ;) It does sound like an interesting project. I have no idea how many fountains we have in this city, but I might have to find out...

Definitely sounds like a good idea for fountains. Probably for any project, really, just to get some variation if nothing else.
