SR II on K-1 MKII will offer Dynamic (handheld) Pixel Shift Resolution

The PS you have today in K-1 and in K-3II creates a large RAW file containing the four exposures. The DCU/Pentax software and the camera processes this file in the same way for you to export to a jpeg or TIFF.

Therefor I assume that the new algorithm is only software and therefor possible in camera and in computer as long as you have the RAW file.

Well, the PS we have today is also processed in camera AND in the software. Why do you think this will be any different? The K-3II does not have MC in camera but the files gets MC in the software.

I think that the new PS functionality will come to all of us if using the DCU software provided by Pentax. They will have to update the software to accomodate the K-1II. I.e we will be able to apply it to already taken images with the K-1 and the K-3II.

To compare the F 1.7x AF adapter with the new 1.4x is kind of like comparing a T-Ford with a Ferrari when it comes to speed and usability. The new 1.4x gives you, for instance, full AF functionality, and full SR-functionality, i.e the correct focal length is displayed. It also gives you full weather sealing if you use a WR/AW-lens.

I will give the camera to him again to see if there are more things that can be used in different ways.

Live View Tracking AF.C

So I handed my K-1 to a person that only use phone cameras. He pressed the shutter halfway, moved the camera so that the subject, that first was focused on, was where he wanted the subject in the image, the focus frame tracked the subject all the way. He then pressed the shutter and the subject was not in focus... BUT, that made me realise how to use this "feature".

1) Focus on the subject.
2) Without letting go of the halfpress, re-compose.
3) Let go of the halfpress, re-focus and take the image.

In the Shooting information in the Pentax software, Digital Camera Utility, there is an entry called Capture mode. It states "ASTROTRACER" when you have used Astrotracer.

The amount of zoom is depending on what you used last time. It has no 100% setting but 10x should be 100%. I use 16x sometimes when setting focus on stars.

Astrotracker use question

Zooming in Live view is done when pressing the OK button.

Also, do not use Bulb for this. Go to bulb, make sure Astrotracer symbol is visible in the upper left corner. Make sure you have green GPS symbol. Press exposure comp button and calibrate. Press Green button to toggle between Bulb and Astrotracer timer. Use the timer and set the time. Press the shutter with 2s delay and a cable release or infrared. Preferably in Live view so that you won't get the mirror slap. With this you will not have to stop the exposure, it will end when the timer ends. If not you have the wrong settings.

I attach my Astrotracer manual. It is in swedish but the images may help...

To use Astrotracer with just bulb was new to me but testing without any stars I see that it actually turns. I thought that the Astrotracer timer was necessary. Maybe a glitch in the FW. Is it the same on the K-3II?

Type 1. Press the little button once and you have the AF selection active. Press again and you have standard controls.

Type 2. Press the little button once and you have standard functions active. Make a selection, 2s timer for instance, or change white balance. Now it automatically reverts to AF-point selection. You will have to push the little button every time you wish to make a selection other than AF-points.

Important is to have the LCD tucked in in its home position when calibrating. Then use the LCD for setting up your shot. THEN tuck the LCD back in its homeposition again. Now shoot.

If you thought that you wanted large DOF using f/13 you really do not need that since the foreground will be blurred due to the sensor moving. Open up and let the light in so you can lower the ISO.

If you can read swedish I have a manual for this...

"Stair casing" at 100%

I also want to add that I do want to look at my images at near 100%. If I only wanted to look at the images at screen size or at 3 feet from a A3+ print I would not need the K-1, nor the K-3. It would suffice with the K10D, well the K-5 since the K10D is not as user friendly as the K-5 and newer. I love to see the small details that the high resolution camera picks up when I use a really sharp lenses. Already the K10D outresolved most of my slides and negatives taken during the 80's through the first years of the new millennia. My fathers old kodak slides are more high res. Should not have used Agfa and Fuji so much =/

Many comments say "Don't pixel peep" or "Don't look at the images at 100%"

Those comments only apply when you are using the whole sensor output. If you have to crop the image you are suddenly alot closer to the 100% problems.

If these problems will be seen on a print or not depends on the printed resolution, i.e the amount of pixels at your disposal. If cropped tight, they will show.

I check for sharpness and composition in the field. Checking for moiré or CA is impossible on the LCD, i.e the software has to be able to counter the problem.

IS/SR needs to be disabled when on tripod. 2s selftimer turns that off automatically.
