you are missing my question. do the new lenses have the 1.26 crop factor with the 645d that the vintage lenses have?

my question, is the 25mm lens sized for the smaller 645d sensor or the larger 645 film area.

as I see it the Z is good enough to last a long while. I would concentrate on getting any of the known bugs and weaknesses out of the system. they have got to find a way of lowering the price's of new lenses.

you should be ok with what you have. don't worry about gaps. remember you have a 1.26 crop factor with theD or Z. the 35mm will not be that wide and will not give you the fisheye effect. you need to screw a .05 aux converter to the font of the 35mm.

Worth picking up a 645D as a second body to a Nikon D800?

if I was using my camera as a money maker for a living, I would have two of my chosen models.
my 645d or a 645z could act as a do it all camera. shooting from a scooter with a good harness I can carry it all day.
my only difficulty is in shooting fly buys at the air shows with a 200m or400mm lens.

I guess my eye is not as critical as yours. I pp with picasa mostly which gives a little latitude with color and contrast.

it's nice to find a fellow tc user and stacker. on a whim I've stacked 2 2.0x and 1 1.4x together. the results were not great but better than no shot. with my hobby's it's been about trying new [ to me] things. "they" say that tc's magnify defects, but when you use primo lenses and tc's , there should be no defects.

I've used the 1.4 and 2.0x tc's on my 645D with the 200mm, 400mm, and the 300mm67 with adaptor. that it's strictly manual focus is a given., but on a bright day , no problem. my results with both tc's have been good to very good. I've even got good results when I've stacked two together. I use either a tripod or a monopod. i'll post a few samples when I can dig them up.

relax guys I didn't mean to start a war. it was just a question. i'm happy with my 645d. I like the crop factor except when trying to get really wide angle shots.i can even live with the 1600 top iso. so ffar the D has not let me down.

it was awhile after I received my 645d that I learned it's sensor area was less than the film area. it's only now that I would like someone to tell me the reason Pentax chose to put a cropped version sensor in the camera. I would have paid extra for a full size sensor.

Pentax 645 75FA vs D-FA 55mm Lens
Posted By bull drinkwater

due to the crop factor, the 55mm and 75mm are short and medium telephoto lenses. a 45-85mm fa seems to be the best bet.

Pentax 645 A 35mm F3.5 lens prices

that's about what I paid over a year ago. but note 35mm on a D or Z model is not that wide of an angle. allowing for the crop factor, a 45mm lens is the equiv of 56mm and the 35mm lens is the equiv of 44mm . it takes 25mm or shorter before you get into real wide angle images. I for one take crop factors seriously.

i'll concede your point, but paying close to 20k for 4 new lenses might be tight for many of the D and Z owners. for many of us our cameras are not money makers, it's all out of pocket expenses.

if you want to bird with the D or Z more power to you. the 400mm or 500mm should serve you well. with the crop factor the 400mm fa is the equiv. of 500mm's.
with either the 1.4x or 2.0x tc if you can deal with manual focus you'll be in fat city.

finding myself with a -35mm and a a-45mm lenses, I went the cheap route. I found a 0.5x screw n lens on the 45mm lens I get a very wide angle. with the 35mm I get a circular fish eye effect. the images are nor great, but they'll do.
