What does this mean, exactly?
“Not compatible RAW file of PENTAX K-1.”

I haven't run into or heard of this problem. What exactly is the issue? Sincere question.

I am a little torn between the KP and the K3(ii). I'd be using it with long lenses and not sure how it would handle.

Thanks for the help. I think I've heard enough that I'll be looking for a used K3 or k3ii. It's nice to hear that the older Cannon doesn't blow the newer Pentaxes away regarding AF. I was tempted to try Canon out for AF, but having a second Pentax body will be more convenient being able to share all the lenses. I am officially talked down. Thanks!

I've heard such good things about that Canon set up, that other than a Pentax option, it is all I have looked at. I'm also curious to see if the older autofocus tracking on the Canon is ahead of the newer Pentax AF.

Yeah, the K3 or k3ii +da300 + the 1.4 is the combo I'm also considering. Does anyone know how the old canon would fair next to the only kind of old K3 as far as continuous AF? Comparable?

First, I'd like to say I have the K1 and love it. Gonna keep it and use it hopefully for a very long time. But I've been thinking about wildlife and I've seen some recommendations for a relatively inexpensive lighter handheld combo. The Canon D7 plus their 400 5.6. I know it would be pretty bad in low light with old ISO technology and no image stabilization. But it would potentially be a nice option used for around $1000. Talk me down. What are some comperable Pentax options?

Would you say the k1 cropped would produce sharper images than the K3 cropped sensor on the d fa 150-450? My idea for the K3 or KP would be more of a companion as well as a back up. It would be like having a 1.5 Tele converter without the loss of light. Plus my lazy self wouldn't have to change lenses from landscape to telephoto.

Wow! Thanks for the responses! The f28 will screw right onto the d fa 100? Or is there some sort of adapter required? Thanks!

Can the old lens offer anything besides a little wider aperture than the new zoom? If you already have the zoom, would it be worth it to pick up a copy of the f28?

Thanks for the suggestions! I'm intrigued by the KP but may "settle" for the K3 due to the price. I like the thought of having twice the reach of my K-1 with the 300mm on it in a really light set up.

Looking for a back up crop body to my K1. Something I can just keep my Tokina 400 5.6 on for wildlife shots. I've sunk most of my budget on the full frame and lenses, so it would need to be relatively cheap. My first instinct is a used K3. They can be found for under $500 and are pretty good on image quality. Any other suggestions?

He also said they would have a lens under glass. I'm assuming it's the 50mm, but hoping it's the 85.

I was at the local shop as well and they did mention a soft announcement next weekend with some other sort of announcement in November. Not a lot to go on but it does sound like something is coming. Also as I mentioned in the deals thread, they are offering a free grip with K1 purchase, 10% off any lens, and have some instant rebates on the newer zooms. Today and tomorrow on site only.

Not sure where to post this. But the Ricoh reps are here today and tomorrow. They are offering the grip for the K1 free with purchase of the camera today and tomorrow only. I bought mine there 30 days ago and they did a quick adjustment and gave me the grip for free! They are also offering 10% off any of the lenses and they will price match Adorama and B&H. Again today and tomorrow only. Also on some of the new D FA lenses, they mentioned something about an instant rebate of $200. Their prices are sometimes a little higher than the online stores, but the Rico guy said they will price match. I bought the 28-105 at 10% off. Walked out of there super happy and may go back tomorrow!

Pentax reps will be demoing the K1 at my local camera shop this weekend. Does anyone think they will know/share any new info on upcoming lenses?
