I updated to firmware 1.1 yesterday and this morning, this problem occurred.

I reformatted the 2 sd cards and the problem happened again.

I put in another battery and have not seen the problem after several shots.

I put back the original battery and the problem still has not re-occurred.

weird :(

Advantages of K-3 Mark III over the K-3 II

Quick question: the LI90 battery is 7.2 volts but can be charged via USB.

Should the voltage not be 7.2 volts minimum ? USB is only 5 volts.

Am I missing something ?

Will you buy the k3 Mark 3?

I will not. I will just keep it in my dreams :)

If I had spare money, yes I would. I have a K3ii and I do not think the extra on k3iii is really worth 2000$.

I do like the continuous speed..... 12fps..... wow.

Is the higher ISO something that will be useable ? Seems unrealistic to me. Are there any samples of pics at ISO 1.6m ?

I never put much importance into the tilt screen until I got the K1ii. Now, for me, tilt screen is a MUST.

I hear a lot of weight concern. I read comparisons between the DFA and the FA. I have the FA.

I guess what I need to do is go out for a few weeks with the FA only to check out where I feel limited.

A lot of folks use the kit lens 28-105 and I must admit it is very good.

Thank you everybody for your input. Much appreciated.

The 50mm macro may be juggling around in my head for a while.

50mm 1.4 as a walk-around lens

Hi Everyone,

In 1970 when I got my first camera, 50mm was the walk-around lens I had.

I eventually got a 35mm lens but hardly ever used it.

Zoom lenses were very expensive and not for the hobbyist,

I came back into photography about 15 years ago but about 95% of my picture-taking is birds and wildlife.

300mm with K3-ii works great !

Last year, I got the K1-ii with the intent of getting back into landscaping and nature photo.

Then came Covid-19 and everything we know.

I got into lung problems and have difficulty moving around so nearly 0 picture-taking in the past year. But I am getting better.

I have this magnificent K1-ii but hardly use it.

Getting better also means taking pictures. I would like to get back into the 1970 photo mode when 50mm was the only lens I had.

My problem is that I have the little devil on my shoulder saying "get the 50mm 1.4 DFA" ! ! ! ! :)

In order to help me tell the devil to shut up or go buy the lens, I would like to know how many pentaxians here use the 50mm as a walk-around lens on the K1-ii.

The reviews are just great and I am very tempted.

It seems a bit heavy. Your opinions are most welcome !

Thanks for listening !

how dangerous is the K 1 and K 1 II

K1ii is addictive. I fell in love after playing around with it for 5 minutes in the store. It took me a year to put pennies aside for dream to come true.

Yes ! it IS dangerous.

Once you use it for a few hours, resistance is futile....... you will get one !

The 300mm f4 works fine for wildlife but I prefer to use it with the K3ii.

My 100mm macro work wonders on the K1ii......

LI90 Battery Recharing Question

I did some digging but I cannot find an answer to this.

I am wondering if it is harmful to leave the battery in the charger when it is fully charged ?

I have 2 batteries and sometimes, I forget to check if the one in the charger is fully charged and it may be a few days before I check.

When I started photography in 1968, the ONLY lens I had was a Minolta 50mm 1.4 ( with the SRT-101). When I went to Pentax, with the K10 apsc, I rapidly found out that 50mm on apsc is just not the same as on FF. So I started filling my piggy bank and finally got my K1ii. I still use my K3ii with my 300mm F4 but mostly for birding and wildlife. I did not get the new DFA 50mm 1.4. I am a bit intimidated by the size and weight of that beast. I still use the FA 50mm 1.4 and it, well, sorta "satisfies" me.

The feeling when holding the K1ii, which is a bit taller than the K3, gives me the "grip" I feel good with without needing the battery grip like on the apsc models.

When I look through the viewfinder with my 50mm, I just get that 1968 feeling when I held an SLR for the first time. (sweet memories :) )
