Thanks Adam!

Now for another dumb question, when you do spot metering, do you use the focus points to meter a certain spot?

Thanks for this information!

I have used only a compact camera and I want to level up with a Pentax DSLR. While low funds have kept me from buying one, I am learning as much as I can by observing others, watch tutorials, and read here in the forums. I admit, I felt intimated and I find it more complicated the more I read and learn about using a DSLR. I do not want to buy one if I do not know how to use all the buttons and dials. :)

Good read with the forum link you provide. Seems that all DSLRs for that matter is harder to operate when you learn more. Photography basics are just too basic! :hmm:

So generally with old film cameras, most of them are center-weighted metering, right?

That is good to know! :)

No matter what the price, I think the Pentax FF will be a success.

Maybe as successful as the 645Z. We never know but that's what I feel.

Hope I am right.:)

Quality control for the last 6 or so years has been bad from all manufacturers.

Very frustrating because we the buyers are paying good money (read: huge and hard earned money) and yet we are cheated by them.

Makes me think they are always in a hurry to make a buck!

Not just cameras. Cars. Gadgets. You name it!

Thanks for the explanation @Nicolas! Now I see it. Much better if I could also use a larger monitor I guess. Maybe I could also test a lens by taking a picture of a newspaper or something to test for decentering. Thanks again!:)

Man! You guys have good eyes to detect that the photo is decentered or there's something wrong.

I just can't easily spot it.:(

I play along. Here's mine:

1.) K-3II
2.) FA31
3.) FA43
4.) FA77
5.) DA*60-250

With that, I can save up for the DA15, DA21, DFA100 Macro WR, and DA*300.

Wishful thinking! Keep dreaming!:lol::lol::lol:

Pentax falls farther and farther behind

With Sony and Zeiss recent frenetic release of cameras and lenses, here are my honest thoughts:

"What Pentax has been doing?!"
"Pentax could have just slapped a 24 or 36mp FF sensor in a K-3 and be done with it! It would still be a great camera."
"Pentax FF camera could be pushed even farther. I am wondering what they are thinking right now. :hmm:"

Pentax is so far behind. But Pentax is not doomed yet. That's for sure. :)

Oh! I think @stevebrot is just joking.:)

This make me think that if I can buy a Sony A7 (A7, A7II, A7R, A7RII,A7S, A7SII), the Takumars will be the bunch of lenses to go for. Cheap and the classic rendering and character are great!

I don't think so. Why is this photographer got a lot of praise then? I think he was the only one shooting at the waterhole. This is what he said from his portfolio.

Maybe he will win.
