Thanks you very much

this is what I expected

fast and helpful input from fellow forum members

please keep adding to it.

we will be staying with a group [ Cubs Destinations ] which chose the hotel - the Magnolia Hotel 818 17th St, Denver, CO 80202

( we are lucky, we get room free because of reward points )

won't know where we are sitting in Coors Field until late May or so but we know both games are night games

so after we get there from the airport Sunday noonish or so, the hotel will be the base of operations until we depart for a 5 PMish flight on Wednesday.

so no cameras can be taken in and no safe spot to store them, correct ??

if so, sounds like a spot we will skip

I love a good zoo and met Dave Johnson, one of the keepers there, last week when he gave a talk at the Topeka Zoo and Conservation Center

so I will be trying to contact him. He works with the rhinos and elephants and has published some children books

got out today to try the repaired lens

still has the same problem as I did before I sent it in for repair:

Operator Error

[ I'll keep trying to improve ]

other than that, the repaired autofocus and manual focus operated flawlessly and silently :D

I always compliment when I get good service and complain when I don't so I will call and say thanks personally

my wife and I will be arriving in Denver in June 9 late morning and leaving late afternoon on June 12, 2019

I have been in Denver briefly once before but didn't have time to do anything much [business trip in late November ] this time we will be meeting a group and going to two night games ( Monday and Tuesday ) between the Cubs :D and the Rockies

[ yes, I will be attempting some photos of Coors Field and the game ]

so I expect to have some free time

suggestions, hints and other information welcome.

we will be flying in and staying at a downtown hotel within walking distance of the ball park ( the organizers claim ) but flights and hotel have been chosen already and cannot be changed

not planning on renting a car - so info on getting around Denver without one would be greatly appreciated

thank you

one of the first ones I had to endure was a little surprising to the medical staff when, during the procedure, I apparently started to recover from the anesthesia

they had to quickly change to another type

[ never was told big the sledge hammer was ;) ]

luckily I have no memory of that :D

Binoculars - good for birding ?

10 x is the magnification

the higher the magnification, the harder it can be to hold steady

the second number is the objective:

1. What do the Magnification Numbers on Binoculars Mean?

The magnification number on binoculars is expressed as part of a combination of two figures, for example 8x40 or 10x25.
The first figure (8x, 10x) refers to the power of magnification. Binoculars with an 8x magnification will make objects appear 8 times closer than they are. The higher the number, the closer objects will appear through the lenses.
Extreme magnifications (12x and up) make it difficult to maintain a steady image, unless you have the binoculars stabilized on a solid object like a table or a wall. You also get zoom binoculars, which offer an adjustable magnification range.

2. Objective Lens Size (Aperture)

The number following the magnification power is called the objective lens size, also referred to as aperture. This is a critical number, because it indicates how much light the lenses are able to gather. A 10x50 binocular will have a 50mm objective lens size, a 7x35 will have a 35mm objective lens size, etc. Wider lenses usually also increase the size of the binoculars.

The wider the objective lens size, the brighter the image you'll see thanks to more light being gathered through the lens. This number is most important for night sky viewing, or other low light conditions.

a thought

back in the day there was something I knew as a " mobile dark room " which was used to swap out a partial exposed roll of film

it was a bag into which you placed the camera and then took out the film

mobile darkroom bag - Bing

https://www.bing.com/images/search?view=detailV2&ccid=ZeIoNY30&id=2719570946...bag&ajaxhist=0

it might work to swap out a lens, or you could try a large plastic bag since for your purposes there is no need to keep out light
