Will we ever get a 400mm f2.8 lens for sports photographers?

Not a chance Sir. In the last century when Pentax sold gazillions of lenses they only ever made one 400mm f2.8.

A specialised lens like that will cost a fortune to make and find the market for it severely lacking. You say you want to add it to your arsenal....how much would you pay for it ?

If you want a 400 2.8 in K mount then search out a A series lens. If you are lucky you could pick one up for $3000

OK point of order here sir. I have had a glass shower screen (in box); many bags of garden rubbish; and two cocker spaniels in my MINI (not at the same time :) )......but i get your point

Best and Worst Bag Purchased.

My worst purchase is the one I currently use. Lowepro Flipside. I understand the security advantage of having the main zippered opening on the rear but it is a complete pain to get the straps and buckles out the way each time I want to open the bag. Won't buy another

I seem to recall that the square format was on the first prototypes. But of course missing from the full release. Brought back with firmware update.

I think the trouble is that the more detail the manual goes into the less likely it will be read. The internet age means online and printed manuals are less important too.

Once you are on to your 2nd or third camera do you need a full description of what bracketing or EC does ? I think the K1 manual strikes the right balance. When I got the K1 i went through the entire manual with the camera over a few evenings. If it had been 300 pages I may not have bothered :)

Permanent M42 Adapter to Lens?

Fingernail removal here too.

But you can glue the adapter to the lens. If you do this make sure to remove the spring thingy first. You can then bayonet the lens on/off, but it wont click in place, so just be careful. Yes and use Av mode no problem.

Options to extend reach

No sorry that is just bad science.

Whatever lens you put on a camera delivers the same image at the sensor. A 90mm lens on a "Q" sensor gives you the magnification of a 90mm lens on a 12MP sensor. He will be worse off than he is now. All you are telling him to do is to effectively enlarge a 12MP "Q" sensor image so it looks bigger. How is that going to help him?

If you really want to take more serious images of birds you will have to take a second job. You are not going to succeed with a budget of $200.

My suggestions in order are :

1.4 TC
New camera 24MP aps-c
a 500mm lens.

You will need to look second hand as you cannot get these new in your budget.

Indeed. As someone who shoots raw exclusively, I cannot produce a single photograph without pp.

Extreme pp will always be well, extreme and can be judged as such.

Film was no different just more cumbersome. Choosing a different film had an effect on contrast; grain; and colour. The same with paper. The great b+w photographers would spend as much time in the darkroom as they did out in the field, or would have a staff member do it for them. Film was no more a "true" medium than digital is today.

K3 - SR on a tripod
Posted By pschlute

The camera will not recognise it is on a tripod and turn off SR.

if you use remote or timer to trigger exposure it will default to turn off SR

To be honest at 1/125 with a 55 mm lens SR on or off will make virtually no difference.

Any decent software will be able to view your image at over 100% (which means 1 pixel in your image = 1 pixel on your screen). But the more you zoom the more you just end up with a blocky mush.

Post your picture.

Photography is an art form. For me pressing the shutter button is just the first stage in creating that art.
