Should I finally invest in a K-1?

Thanks for all the excellent input here. Your answers are making it tough to decide on the one hand but also giving me good reasons to wait for the new camera.

Do you guys think there will be a price drop for the K-1 II once the APS-C is available?

I currently have a K10D, K-5 and K-3. I don't shoot as much as I did when I lived in Maine but I keep thinking I sure would like a full frame camera.

I really don't want to invest in more lenses since I have most of the Limited primes. Will they work with a K-1?
Will there be any shortcomings for not using a lens designed for the K-1?

What are the benefits of a K-1 over a K-3?
I have to believe this has been discussed in previous threads but I got away from this forum because of other things in my life and I just haven't kept up.

Are there any new cameras on the horizon from Pentax or does it look like the K-1 is the last DSLR in the works?

Thank you in advance for your replies.

I could tell you a long story about how the cops tried to say an accident I was in was my fault because they found what looked like one single marijuana seed in my truck that turned out to be a sesame seed. Eventually all charges for the accident went away but the other driver sued me. They thought they were going to get millions. My insurance company finally told me there was a witness that said I had the left turn arrow and they ran the red light. I didn't try suing them and obviously got nothing. They eventually settled for $1500.

I've been considering selling my K10D plus the kit lens it came with. Of course the charger and battery are included and I do have an extra battery as well. The manual is also included. If you saw it you'd consider it to be in excellent to mint condition. I know it's not worth $295 like the one for sale above but I really don't know what to sell it for. If this post is inappropriate please delete it. I'm just trying to help out the OP.

Years ago I had a 1981 Buick Regal stolen in 1987. In 1988 my 1982 Oldsmobile Cutlass was stolen. Both were pieces of junk but they were stolen none the less. I now live in a rural area and I think it's safer out here.

Every few months I consider selling my K10D plus kit lens since I haven't used it in years but then I see the photos in this thread and think that at some point it might be fun to go back to the basics. Though the K-5 and K-3 I gave really can do every thing plus more...

But I am happy that the K10D got me back into photography again....

To read stories like this makes me feel bad for the victim and anger towards the bad guy. I've been the victim in a similar situation and would like to help if I could but as of last week I'm in the job market again and cannot afford to contribute to any type of collection at the moment. Perhaps in a few weeks....

Years ago I purchased my 100mm macro lens off of eBay and I used PayPal for the payment. I typically have items I purchased shipped to my place of employment. Unfortunately I forgot to make an address change in PayPal and it was sent to my former place employment which refused the delivery. The item was coming from a seller in Hong Kong. Needless to say it took quite awhile for it to back to me with a corrected address. And luckily with all those miles it was (and still is) in mint condition.

Thanks to work I don't take as many photos as I used to and I have a K-3 with less than 200 clicks on it I got last year. I also have a K-5 I liked and used more but I used my K10D most of all. I still like it for low ISO stills.

When was the last firmware released?

I bought my K-3 two Thanksgivings ago and haven't had a chance to use it much because of work. I bought my K-5 right as it was introduced and experienced the focusing screen issues. From now on I think I'll wait until the camera has gone through several bug fixes and price reductions.

I have a Tamron 18-250 I bought the same year as my K10D in 2008. I haven't used it much since that first year because I decided to switch over exclusively to primes. If I remember correctly that lens does not have a motor and the system uses only the camera focusing motor.

Hopefully the lens and your Kr are OK. Have you tried another lens in the Kr to see if it focuses? Perhaps try out a prime and another zoom?

Rarely do I find myself taking photos with anything more than my 31 & 43. But now I'm thinking if had the new WR zooms and K-1 I would be all set. Especially after seeing the pre-production photos. They really did look pretty nice.

What do you think?

How would the insurance know if the accident happened last week or last month? ...other than perhaps rust where the paint scraped off.

That and someone that knows how parts should be made using the right kind of CNC machine and the knowledge in how to program the machine.

Actually a lot of things are not as difficult to fix as many believe.

A few months ago I bought brand new appliances for the home I moved into only to find out that the previous owner built the house with the dryer venter coming out of the bottom of the dryer...not the back near the bottom...the bottom. I then found out that many dryers are built so they could be vented out the bottom with an optional bottom vent kit. I figured it couldn't be that tough. All I would need to do us punch out the sheet metal cutaway and use the elbow that came with the kit. Well...the elbow in no way would fit through the opening. I figured I would have to call a service guy. I decided to see if I could find any instructions online. What I found was a video about how to replace the belt on the drum. Basically you need yo disassemble the entire dryer to remove the drum to replace the belt. I then followed the video and took it one step further to install the elbow. It took me a whole 30 minutes. It wasn't that difficult as long as you find the right video.

If you knew anything about CNC machining then you would know your statements are in no way accurate. Many non manufacturing knowledgable people seem to think that all you need is a picture and a computer button that you click on and the part just jumps off the machine seconds later.

Nowadays it is easier to make large quantities of parts using CNC equipment but in actuality it would probably take less time for a journeyman tool and die maker to make one part using standard machine tools.

CNC machines allow you to machine a part that was programmed using CAM software from an accurately created 3D model.

I can go on for much longer but it's almost pointless to try to explain this to an uneducated person.

I've been a customer of both stores since 2007 when I bought a K10D. Since then I've purchased lenses, a flash, filters, batteries, chargers, memory cards, a K5, a K3, more lenses and more accessories from both stores. I also have tried purchase from local stores as well. Right now I don't have proof...but I sure if I contacted the stores we'd be able to track all my purchases.

And now I have to jump through more hoops to be able to buy from fellow members?

Back in the old days people bought the silver bodies to save money and the lenses were only available in black....

Black bodies were for the pros.

So you pretty much had no choice but to go with a black lens and silver body.

I know it's a reversal of the color scheme but as I said when I have a silver lens on the black body it seems to get more attention.
