Of that count, it already was :)
And yes, the styling and ergonomics are a bit shit, until you get it on a tripod or a gimbal.
Heck, on a gimbal they're superb, because all the mass is compactly located.

A clip on loupe and a higher quality screen - equivalent to that used in the SmallHD 501 or 502 veiwfinder - would be all that's needed.

Sounds very much like Fuji's hybrid OVF/EVF from a few years back.

It'd be a good step towards a full mirrorless, or allow mirrorless operation of a DSLR, which would allow faster burst rates for Stills, and a use of the eyepiece for Video.

It would also be a useful step forward if Pentax want to do a Camcorder style body behind the K-mount, similar to Sony's NEX-VG 10 / 20 / 30 / 900 series of cameras.

That market sector - Interchangable Lens Camcorders - is pretty vacant of challengers right now, Panasonic, Sony and Canon are all doing fixed lens camcorders for waaay to high a price (cheaper to bump up to a full Cine camera), with the NEX-VG's and the Canon XL series being the last decent cameras released for it - to the point where they still command secondhand prices higher then the new price for a K-3ii or K-1.

Mirrorless based camcorder, at Pentax's price points, with Pentax colour science, could be a very interesting product. They could easily corner the market with a HD version based on the KP sensor, and a 4K version based on the K-1 sensor.

Not exactly 'portable' with the camera :D

Sounds like you'd be another person for whom External Recording would be preferable - Pentax's HDMI is too messed up to be usable, but the GX85 should interface with a BMD Intensity product, running parallel to your sound recording hardware.

Yeesh, I can hear what you mean with the AGC, that hiss at the start, then the jump down in level to match the volume of the harpsichord.

Does your external recorder have an analog input for audio? - I have the Atomos Shogun, it's XLR adaptor fly lead can be a little flaky in assembly quality, but it does provide a better quality recording then most camera bodies.

Stabilisation should be turned off on tripod, regardless of camera brand. There's a youtube, reviewer walking down a street in Japan at night with the G85 using the full '5-axis' mode, which is lens, sensor, and vector math, all in concert, and it looks as good as a SteadiCam Jr or Merlin would.

Yuuuuup, wait for the "these are 'stills' cameras" luddites to weigh in with their usual anti-video whinge.

Small sensors have their place, they're used in phones, or Standard Def DV Era products :D

If I was going to buy a video camera based around a small sensor, I'd grab a GoPro or Yi4K+, and then apply the 'Backbone' mod for C/CS mount lenses, so I could use Cosmicar 16mm (made by Pentax) or 110 lenses.

And none of them would match what you want to do with audio inputs.

In a way, what might suit your use best, would be a secondhand Sony NEX VG-30 (APSc) or VG-900 (Full Frame), which can have XLR audio inputs, still achieve decent depth-of-field, can use Pentax lenses on a cheap K-to-E adapter,.... But don't have the colour science of a Pentax :(

Now, how about some Queen or Beatles on the Harpsichord? Or maybe some heavy metal ?

I couldn't own the Sonys - I absolutely hate Rolling Shutter Skew, which is why the Global Shutter of the Cmosis sensor in the Cion appealed so much.
One of the Cion User Group members figured out a work flow to get the full dynamic range from the camera, and the combination of the camera, the Pentax lenses, and the post workflow, has a unique and appealing look to the footage.

And putting the camera on the shoulder without needing any rigs, it frees the operator to move with the actors and get right in for the gritty close-ups when desired.

Monitoring the Linear sensor output is a P.I.T.A. in a 'log' world,... but the efforts are worth it.

Spot on! paired with a half decent Follow Focus, the long focus throws of the K, KM and KA lenses make focus-pulls a doddle.

I've got one shot in the 'reel, where I was walking backwards, with the actress walking towards me faster then I was moving, and is kept sharp (or sharp enough), on a 50mm 1.4 wide open, with ND16 + ND8 to bring the exposure back down where needed.
And the butter-smooth movement of the lens is what made it a fairly easy shot to get in the can, and to repeat.

I looked at those, and the G85, to pair with my Shogun, and if you've got the external recorder and don't need Vlog - and who really does when Panasonic makes it possible to adjust the gamma curves in camera,.. - and both the GX85 and G85 are damn good cameras.
If I hadn't been offered the Cion at US factory cost price, I absolutely would have been buying the G85.
And for bonus points, the Panasonic mirrorless 'DSLR' form-factor bodies, will use a Pentax DLi-90 battery!!!
Plus they get in-body sensor-stabilisation, just like the K-5 had seven years before,... or paired with Panasonic lenses, 5-axis Stabilization.

I would love to see what Panasonic, Sony, and now Blackmagic Design, could do with a Camcorder form factor body, using their Mirrorless ranges hardware - a current day NEX-VG-30 or VG-900.

I've said it before, Pentax should absolutely have a go at that body style, as the real advantages Pentax could bring - Ease of Use, IBIS and the Pentax Colour Science - added to a high data rate or functional HDMI output, would make for a VERY appealing product.
Especially as they seem to be able to get better performance with less Skew out of the Sony sensors then what Sony can :D

Then why are you still getting the math wrong?

( Lens mm x Crop Factor ) x Focal Reducer Factor.

( 50mm x 4.7 ) x Focal Reducer Factor

235 x 0.666

156.51 mm NOT 25mm

Heck, even if you do it in the Optical System Order, - ( Lens x Focal Reducer ) x Crop Factor - You Get The Same Answer.

Not if you want Infinity Focus.

Metabones have no intention to support K-mounts. I have that in writing from emails three years ago when I was chasing K-mount adapters for the Aja Cion before purchasing the camera - We made our own mounts for it.
I absolutely hope they prove me wrong and have changed their corporate bias against the Pentax lenses and produce their focal reducers in K-mount versions - Pentax film era lenses are astounding quality when used for 4K Cinema Production, I've used mine in front of Sony, Panasonic, Blackmagic and Aja cameras and gotten to record fantastic vision with them.
Annoyingly, Metabones support the C/Y mount, and the Zeiss-Yashica lenses, which are virtually unknown outside of the most dedicated lens enthusiasts,... yet the C/Y Mount has an identical Flange Focal Distance to the K-mount and M42 mount, so all Metabone have to do, is machine off some new brass rings to match the K bayonet and screw them to their existing products.
If that's not proof of a bias against Pentax lenses within a company, when it would be an almost no-cost item to support thousands of lenses, then I don't know what is.

Not pedantic, accurate, as is Mistral75's statement understanding that the lens doesn't change, the system of the lens AND the focal reducer is what allows the camera to see the whole of the Lens's image circle.

There's a lot of subtle detail and colour information in the first shot there - the graduations in the liquid being poured is rather nice. :)

I normally use center weighted, so haven't observed the behaviour you mention,... which would be a right pain in the ar,....
I'd love to know what choosing Face Recognition as the AF mode does, and if that moves the focus around with the people.

Yikes!
For me that looks like MovieSR is switched on, in my experience, that makes the rolling shutter jello significantly worse.

Low light argument on the M4/3rds cameras is less of an issue if you're picking up the extra stop or so from a good quality Focal Reducer - I've dealt with the same comments about my Cion by showing how much extra range a Focal Reducer gave it - Night shots under street lights with a decent fast prime (the KM 50 1.4 or KM 85 f2) work perfectly well, which mirrors the experiences I had doing the same sort of shots on a GH-4.

Anamorphic front elements - such as the projector lens style of shooting - can also add a little more light.

No. It Does Not Alter the Focal Length (or Angle of View) of a Lens.

It Compresses the Image Circle.

I'm totally astounded that there are so many people out there who do not know this!

---------- Post added 06-07-18 at 01:19 PM ----------

I read that first, and explained why the math in the review was wrong.

Y'know, I only looked in the Q-forum to find what the crop was and whether anyone's tried using small Anamorphics to film with them :D
I have a short film to do needing a camera on a Gimbal on a jib arm above a Dolly,... really want to try it on a Q series camera, for the colour accuracy of the Pentax colour science.

No, it absolutely does NOT.
No crop sensors can ever make a Lens appear to be wider then what that lens is natively.
Not even when a Focal Reducer is used.
You need to go back an redo all your maths, because you have it the wrong way around.

---------- Post added 06-07-18 at 12:41 PM ----------

Nope.
A 55mm lens is always a 55mm lens, regardless of whether it's mounted on a FF, MF, APSc, Q or even sitting on the floor.
The lens's angle of view is always the same.
The use of a focal reducer compresses the image circle - it paints a smaller circle of the same angle of view.

Hold a lens up so the front faces an open window while standing in the door way to a darkend hallway.
Now hold a piece of paper up behind the lens and move it closer or further away until the lens is projecting a sharp image on the paper.
Note what items are in view, and the size of the circular image.

Now add your focal reducer to the back of the lens and repeat.
You will see the same items in view, but the circle will be smaller.

You only see more of the image circle on a crop sensor camera because the image circle is projected smaller.

You do not see more items projected then before.

It's simply that the camera can now see more of what the lens could already see. This is what makes people think the lens magically becomes wider, but it does not.

Use of a Focal Reducer means less of the image circle is lost.

:)

I thought about it for a long while, especially as they make C/Y to M4/3 and C/Y to E Speedboosters, as the C/Y lenses used the same FFD as K-mount and M42.

Since I made M4/3 and E mounts for my Aja Cion, I was asked by a US cinematographer if I could modify one of the PL to E speedboosters, and found it would be easier to pull the rear off the Speedbooster and manufacture a custom plate that would screw directly in to the rear flange mount, instead of using the E-mount.

Turning one of the C/Y to M4/3, E, X mounts Speedboosters in to a K-mount would be even easier, as I could pull the K-mount ring off the front of a cheap adapter, redrill the screw holes to match the Speedbooster, block the original holes if not used, and then just screw it in place.

I've been half tempted to create a range of custom fit lens flange rings, but have been busy with other needs.

Modifying the Speedbooster for a Q, to accept K-mount lenses, is basically the same, but the front ring would be much narrower, due to the longer FFD of the Nikon lenses.

The other option for K lenses on M4/3 and E mounts, is to buy one of the Kipon Focal Reducers - Kipon use the same optical supplier as Arri.
Sadly they don't make a product for the Q or Nikon 1 series.

I'd expect to see Metabones never make a K-mount version, but will probably make a version for the Nikon 1 cameras.

Having used both, the Q family are superior, even when comparing Video output.

NOPE !, No, not ever!

What Focal Reducers do, is reduce the amount of the Field of View of the lens lost by the crop factor.

No adapter ever made can increase the Field of View of a lens. The lens itself keeps the same Field of View angle regardless of what it is put in front of, be that a crop camera, a crop camera with a focal reducer, a full frame camera, or an ICL adapter for a fixed lens camera.

Take a FF lens and put it in front of an MF camera (so it would have a negative value for the crop factor) and you don't suddenly get a wider lens, you get Vignetting.

Same goes if you use a focal reducer to compress the image circle down to a negative crop.

Back when I was shopping around for a Cine camera, I emailed Metabones and asked if there any plans to support K-mount lenses, and was told flatly and in no uncertain terms, that they will never support Pentax lenses.
That they made this product for Nikon lenses instead of Pentax lenses means that they must consider the Pentax lenses inferior, or that they expect Q owners to prefer non-Pentax lenses are better.

Fotodiox and their new Tilt-Rokr product, do similar - they made it for Pentax 6x7 lenses, but no K-mount version, Nikon, Canon, Sony versions, but nothing for Pentax camera owners.

Pretty silly logic - who is most likely to buy either the Metabones for Q, and the Tilt-Rokr for 6x7 lenses? - Pentax Camera and Lens owners!
We're more likely to own the lenses and the bodies these product are designed for, so they've ignored the biggest potential markets for them.
:(

(rant Ends)

There is a glaring error in the OP,... the lens used is a Nikkor-S 55mm F/1.2.
This means on a FF camera, its a 55mm.

On the Speedbooster, it DOES NOT become the quoted 27.5mm lens.

Using the Q7 crop factor of 4.7, the 55mm with straight lens adapter is equivalent to 258.5mm

Data from Metabones site indicates the Q7 with the speedbooster fitted has it's crop factor reduced to 2.3, whereby the 55mm lens becomes the equivalent of a 126.5mm lens.

It is important to note that no focal reducer (the class of devices the speedbooster brand is) makes any lens Wider then it's native view angle. Ever.

Focal Reducers lower the percentage of the lens view angle lost due to the crop.

Been there, shot that, yeah, the Pentax glass is fantastic on that sensor, both on a BMPC4K, and on the Cion.
The lenses are also fantastic on the original BMDCC and BMPCC.

Advantage of the BMPC4K and the Cion - Global Shutter, you can dolly sideways at high speed with ZERO jello or Skew.

I think none of us know yet, as it's not out in stores.
If it's anything like the original Pocket Cam, you won't want to use it hand-held, ever.

On top of what's said above,.... how old is your version or Prem Pro?

Premiere was notorious for sync drift over long sections of video, for many years and many versions of the software.

I'd expect there to be a difference in the frame rate of the cameras, but if they're all identical, I wouldn't expect the audio to drift within the camera.
