Could this be a problem with the shutter curtain?

Pretty sure my copy that I got "used", but "as new" is decentered, but it does not show here at 16mm f/8 because I cropped away more than 50% of the frame to get it to fit the subject

Huh! I never noticed it before and it looks so out of place there that I would have never considered it part of the original design :o Shame on me

From a professional "used photo gear shop" website, a K-1 for more than 1,200, "Condition: Like new."
"Almost no signs of use, no wear or scratches on the body's varnish."

I've never seen one before, but I'd bet a good chunk that I'm seeing a "Sigma scratch" above the mount?

Dark frames or dark expositure problems in KS2, K30, K50, etc.

My K-S2, bought 4 years and 3 days ago, might have just shown the first sign of the problem: First frame was dark when it shouldn't have been, and the next were correctly exposed, even at the same settings under the same circumstances as the first dark frame.

A small glimmer of hope remains: could it have been the lens' fault? It was the first shot with a new to me, but bought as "used" 16-85, although the seller described it as unused and the lens did not show any sign of usage. Could it have been a little sluggish aperture in a lens that may have sat unused for a longer time? I hope so :)

Will have to keep my senses sharp towards the possibilty of solenoid failure. I'm at least half prepared, I have an istD that I could get a white solenoid from. For the rest, I will have to rely on the great guides here and that I will not destroy anything beyond repair in the process :D

The distance markings in the middle and on the zoom ring look awfully alike my Danubia 500/8, although the colours and m/ft are the other way around on mine, and the general shape is comparable, but not the same. I also can't make out the aperture ring. I got mine quite dusty inside for 16,50 shipped I think. I'll still have to figure out how to get to all the elements from inside to give it a good cleaning.

It offers a great range of focal lengths and the price seems very good, but I don't know the lens so I can't offer any advice here. Have you had a look at the lens reviews? Tamron AF 18-250mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II LD Lens Reviews - Tamron Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database

Yeah I know exactly what you mean and I did try to tackle that with the Local Adjustments Tool in DxO PhotoLab, but I couldn't get just the halo/haze down, so in the end I tuned down the whole mountain a little and a bit along the peaks to the left. I shortly contemplated doing two different edits, one for the sky and one for the rest, and combining them in GIMP, which would have been the way to go in the end, I guess.

When I did it, I thought it looked better with a bit of the highlights blown out, but when I now look at the sky in the winning image by @JHfwp I must say it looks better this way.

Thanks for the comments and great picture!

My first time as well.

At first I wanted to try and keep it somewhat realistic while also pushing the shadows, contrast and colours and pronouncing the beautiful sky, all in DxO PhotoLab 3. Then I thought it would be a little boring without a little creative freedom, so I made some final adjustments in Analog Effex. I feel like it looks like everyone's first HDR though, which is not a good thing to say about my own edit. Oh well here it goes:

Some halos visible from shooting at -2 EV and pulling the sliders up too much in post, but I guess for an angel/goddess that's okay? :)

And from the platform visible in the shot before upwards

Colours are really nice, great bokeh... I was thinking about that empty space to the right and another crop, perhaps portrait orientation, but decided against changing anything. It's looking in the right direction and the massive feeler to the left prevents a portrait crop with enough space left on the right side.
