Better to buy Pentax 77mm or 85mm* ???

If you are perfectionist and like shooting wide open, then DFA*85/1.4 is your choice. As owner of this lens I just can say it is ideal beast of optics (heavy for sure, compared to FA 77).
Earlier I used FA* 85, it is also very good lens, but has chromatic aberrations that can be easily visualized shooting wide open in high contrast conditions. FA 77/1.8 has this shortcoming as well. It is correctable, but not always perfectly (did I asked you about perfectionism? :D).
In case You shoot people / families mostly at f2,8+, there is no reason for DFA* 85.

Is there a Pentax 645D/Z debug mode?

I tried debug mode on istD, k100d, k200d, k-x, k-30, k-5, maybe on k-5II and even on k-1. In most cases for AF adjustment because I have series of modified cameras. There are various tests and functions that I do not understand. But in that case I do not explore them and change nothing.
Actually I found useful for me AF adjudtment only.

Yes, there are such Debug Mode files.
Or you can create them by yourself.
Use Notepad. Open new empty file, write 1 string
[OPEN_DEBUG_MENU]

Save file as 00077840.547 (for 645z camera), just do not use .txt extension (save as "all files", i.e. without extension).
Then Open new empty Notepad file and just save it as DEVELOP.MOD (do not use .txt extension, save as "all files", i.e. without extension).
1. put both files for your camera on the root of your SD card
2. put SD card in camera but leave the door open
3. turn on camera
4. now you are in debug menu - have fun!

For 645D:
Open empty Notepad file, add new data with following inside:
[OPEN_DEBUG_MENU]
Save file with the name MODSET.487 (do not use .txt extension, save as "all files", i.e. without extension).
1. put the file for your camera on the root of your SD card
2. put SD card in camera but leave the door open
3. turn on camera
4. now you are in debug menu - have fun!

Battery dying ...

I had similar behavior of K-1 with rare dark frames (or mirror not going up in Live View one or two times but with first curtain open - really strange picture on the rear LCD) before the shutter charge motor died... First curtain did not open at the beginning, but after removal of battery during the long shot in Bulb/M mode and inserting it back camera got responsiveness again.
Later I noticed some uneven sound during longer bursts (one frame dropped out - black), and then one day shutter stucked on second curtain forever.
I hope your problem is not that bad, because repair of shutter charge motor costs about 450 euros.

I do not own GX10 nor K10D that shares same electronic and sensor, but I used older cameras like K100D, K200D, K-x and most of my lenses needed fine focus adjustment. When K-x has this possibility, nor K100D, nor K200D and GX10/K10D has it, The problem is that fine focus adjustment is still needed for most my lenses used on these cameras. In this case the help comes from Debug Mode, where you can adjust AutoFocus with chosen lens. This adjustment is global (for all lenses you use on that particular camera). But it really works and is simply doable.

here you find some info:

I removed sensor protecting glass to access the surface. Then I scratched layer of microlenses and leyer of Bayer CFA. These steps are very difficult to do safely to not destroy sensor circuitry.
IMO there is not such thing like combination of 3 or 4 photosites into 1 pixel. All photosites are individual pixels, just they react to red, blue and green (x2) light depending on color filter.
After the Bayer CFA is removed, all photosites register luminance only and the result is picture in gray tones. In order to achieve better sharpness the RAW file should skip demosaicing process in RAW converter that is always used for color pictures. But RAW converter do not know that you removed Bayer CFA and interpet BW picture from converted camera as color one. So the RAW file should be converted using special software like Monochtome2DNG converter. After that the new DNG file can be processed in every software as true BW picture.

more pictures here. This one was shot using FA* 85/1.4 at f2.8
_IGP8512210426-Edit by MG Mindaugas, on Flickr

This one is shot with FA* 85/1.4 at f1.4 and postprocessed as normal color image in LR. As you can see, there are some non clean places, that can be enhanced using color sliders
_IGP8443-Edit by MG Mindaugas, on Flickr

This one is shot with DFA* 50/1.4 at f1.4 and postprocessed differently - "clean" variant is converted in Monochrome2DNG converter to avoid demosaicing in LR (Camera RAW), the second - as ordinary color picture. It looks to me more film-like.

It is hard to believe that Ricoh would make this. The cost of that camera would be very high. The cheaper variant is to buy FF sony or nikon and convert it by MaxMax or similar service. Pitty that MaxMax do not convert Pentax cameras due to "too much wires" inside :)

Thank you. Image quality is good, I was impressed from those 6 and 10 Mpix images, especially using new glass like DFA 50/1.4. But FA 31/1.8 is alsovery nice on these conveerted cameras.
Monochrome conversion is much harder to do compared to IR conversion. There is very big chance to mess the sensor in the tirst - protecting glass removal step (it is not the same glass [anti-aliasing folter] that covers the sensor).

I have K100D converted to monochrome (first picture in my post). The only problem is vertical 4 pixel wide line near the center of the image that should be removed (content-aware) in PS.

---------- Post added 04-22-21 at 07:02 PM ----------

Thank you.
The job is really hard. I messed 7 sensors from K-x (x3), K200D (x2), istD (x1) and K-30 (x1). It is very hard to safely remove sensor protecting glass because it is glued with very strong adhesive. I teared down that glass mechanically. K-30 sensor is very inconvenient for that because it has quite long gold wires inside that were broken by glass peaces.
And second most difficult task is to remove bayer filter array. The more pixels sensor has the more sensitive to scratches it is.
There should be some safe method (maybe chemical), but I don't know about it.

I am joking: seven died, two survived :) This is the second survivor - K200D, 10.2 Mpix. Finaly acceptable modification.
Some time ago AstroDave started this theme and I become interested to try monochrome conversion.
For those who will decide to go this way - choose K100D 6Mpix, because it has absolutely scratch proof sensor. First picture is shot with this camera and FA31 Ltd.
Two others - from K200D.

Hack: Using M lenses in A mode

I have "adapted" Revuenon 55/1.2 (M-->A) and metering with this lens is wrong about +2/3 stops in f1.4-8 range but the error is constant (pictures are looking equally exposed in this range; I did not try f8+ apertures, because I don't use them). So exposure compensation -2/3 eV helps if you need correct/good exposure. In case of underexposure there is no problem to make adjustments in postprocessing.

If you want long exposure shot, you can use composite shooting mode instead of ND filter, e.g. 40 shots with short exposure (let's say 1/5 s)

Monitors: Lenovo l28u-30 vs Asus ProArt PA278QV

Asus has better connectivity (at least +4 USB 3.0). IMO UHD resolution is enough for picture editing (never used 4K though). Lenovo has 8-bit +FRC colors, Asus - real 8 bits. In case your graphic card do not support 10 bits, 8 bits are optimal. But who knows what will be in the future (maybe you will change your graphic card or whole computer). I prefer to buy things that last long and many monitors have 30000 hours working time specification, so that means almost 4 years non-stop work).
Any of these monitors specify AdobeRGB space coverage (so, it could be not impressive as sRGB to specify it :) . If you will not use this color space for editing, then 8 bits are enough to cover (almost) whole sRGB space.
Asus has possibility to change height and to use portait mode, as well as swivel the monitor, Lenovo - not.
IMO good (but not excellent) monitor for photo editing should cost about 700+ dollars.

BenQ SW240 Monitor

I use sw270c - good monitor (no doubt). It uses IPS panel compared to AHVA-IPS in 24'' sw240. Both are made by AU Optronics. According to specs both monitors cover 99 percent AdobeRGB and 100 percent sRGB, but in reality - sw270c covers 98 percent of AdobeRGB and 98.5 percent of sRGB color space. Red, blue and magenta regions are covered not entirely (but very very close to the limits of AdobeRGB color space, magenta and deep blue - for sRGB).
The best contrast I achieved after calibration for 120 cmd/m2 is about 840:1. Seems that sw270c uses brightness uniformity compensation (UC) by default, so 840:1 is very good result. in comparison Dell UP2716D has contrast 1150:1 without UC and just 725 - with UC enabled. Anyway, 300:1 is already enough to work with monitor.
If you have enough space on the table and money, take sw270c, otherwise sw240 will be good choice too.
And... Calibration is a must even it was made in factory.
