I believe these were made by Kiron, but not 100% sure.
I certainly like it for portraits, but its true genius is in macro. I prefer the 50-85mm range for portraits personally.

Sergy, I agree that manual focus is hardly a drawback for macro. Even on my AF Tammy I usually use manual.

This lens is a Pentax K-mount. I've never tried it on a K5 as I don't own one, but it fits great on my K10D which is the same mount. So I have no reason to believe that it won't fit.

Item for Sale
Lester A. Dine 105mm f/2.8 Kit (incl. Ring Flash and ZX-50)

Asking Price
450

Item Location
Bay Area, CA (United States)

Item Description
Just can't justify keeping this one anymore. I end up using my Tamron 90mm most of the time. So here it goes:

Lester A. Dine Dental Kit!. Comes with the original Ring Flash and ZX-50. Original box and documentation.
Everything is in great shape; one would be hard pressed to find signs of use on the lens.

I bought this a long time ago from an actual dentist who has never used it, as far as I could tell. I've used it a couple of times to test out; otherwise it's been sitting in its box the whole time (a shame, I know). The ring flash works well on my K10D.

I will likely regret selling this in a long run, but this lens well outperforms my skills at this point anyway.
I'm only interested in selling the kit as a whole at this point (feel like it deserves to stay intact :) ).

Feel free to PM me with questions, etc.

Here are some lenses I don't use as much as I'd like.
All apertures are snappy, glass free of oil/fungus, no dents, dings, etc.

K135/3.5 - $55 Shipped - SOLD
Super clean, great cosmetic condition.
Comes with front cap and UV filter. (No idea where the rear cap went)

M135/3.5 - $65 Shipped
Also great cosmetic condition, a couple of dust particles barely visible inside the barrel.
Comes with case, UV filter, random rear cap.

M80-200/4.5 - $75 Shipped
Very good cosmetically. Two tiny "dust type" marks at the very edge of the front element. Two tiny marks in the middle of the rear element. I'd like to claim that those marks don't affect the picture, but I have no way to definitively verify that.
Comes with original front and rear caps.

All prices include CONUS shipping. I can ship anywhere at actual cost.
I'll be posting pictures soon, assuming there is interest.

Please, feel free to ask any questions.

Cheers.

Item Description
I picked this up a while ago, but have barely used it.
It's in good working condition. I checked metering against my K10D.
There are definite signs of use, but operation is not affected. There is a crack in the handle (visible in the pictures), but nothing is loose or wobbly and the handle is solid.

Price is $150, including US shipping and Paypal fees.

Absolutely!!!
I've already seen it around. Easter Bunny was beating the crap out of Santa with that thing.

Although, I would be curious to see some one trying to shoot a wedding with that thing.

ZX-5n Stuck Mirror Question
Posted By TimB

Hello,

I think I have a ZX-5n with a common stuck mirror problem. (When pressing the shutter, the mirror goes up but doesn't come down. A whining noise can be heard.)

My question: Is there any info/guides on repairing this problem and obtaining parts?
I tried searching around, but couldn't find anything specific.

I would like to fix it myself (if I can get the part and maybe a repair manual).

Thanks,
Tim.

You've gotta be kidding!!!
What's there to not understand. Some people take advantage of other people. Gotta be the oldest kind of trick out there.

Harmonica, I really feel your pain. I've got scammed once on this forum once as well (there is a post with my rant somewhere here). Although my damages were not severe, it still stung a bit.
I am in no way trying to excuse whoever pulled this crap, nor trying to belittle your loss and disappointment.
I sincerely hope you get to recover your losses.

That's some funky looking focusing action.
Is there some double sliding going on, or is that a built in hood that slides out?

I think I'll try the technique of not letting her shoot.
If I could only manage not letting her speak, then I would be all set.

Perhaps I think too much about the right exposure, settings, and such and that gets in the way of actual picture taking.
I'm not really worried about sharpness, shutter speed, etc.
The main focus is the subject and that's what I'll concentrate on. And will see how that goes.

Now, if only I had some free time and it wasn't raining non-stop. Hopefully soon!!!

"If you can't beat them, join them" approach, eh?

Definitely, a valid technique. Although, singing up for a photo course is the kind of level of commitment I expected to follow this discussion. But maybe you're right.

Wow, I got to my computer this morning to see a bunch of replies to the thread and figured maybe others have come to commiserate with me. Maybe they also hate their loved ones .... Maybe we can stage some kind of uprising to somehow get rid of this problem once and for all! Somehow...
But, alas, it's just suggestions on how to improve my photography instead of destroying hers.

Thank you all for the suggestions.
As far as the eye patch solution goes - my doctor claims that is why I am unable drive at night anymore.

I think I got the shutter/aperture business covered. It's composition and perspective that I'm having problems with (I think); stuff that can't be explained with formulas. Oh, those dreadful formulas.....

I'll definitely be trying the suggestions people proposed.
In the end, I shoot because I like it, and I'm not giving up yet.

Well, actually, I don't.
However, every once in a while, when we're on a hike, or on a beach, or some such thing where I'm firing away with my trusty K10D and producing gigabytes of crap, she would grab my camera, click a couple of times and have THE keepers for the day. And then my train of thought goes something like this: "God damn it, how does this happen and why is she better than me at everything....."

The point I'm trying to make is that I am a horrible photographer. But I can't quite figure out why?
The pictures coming out of the camera always look different than what I have in my head. It just doesn't quite happen, doesn't quite connect.

Maybe I lack perspective, maybe I'm just an idiot.

Oh well, maybe I'll try yodeling for a hobby....

Item for Sale
Pentax KX

Asking Price
$50 - Or best reasonable offer

Item Description
Pentax KX

I've finally made peace with the fact that experimenting with film is just not going to happen. So here comes a KX I bought a while ago.

The unit definitely appears used. There are some scratches on the body, but no dents, dings, or other deformities.
I have not run/developed any film with this one, but everything seems in operational order. The meter seems accurate (as compared to my K10D and a spotmeter).
I'm not sure how to check the accuracy of shutter speed, but to my best estimate it appears accurate.
The battery test, mirror lock/stop-down metering, timer, winder/counter, shutter lock all seem to work fine.
There is some dust on the mirror, but it doesn't appear in the viewfinder.
Pictures of the body HERE

I'm not sure how much this is worth. Prices on the bay range from $30-100.
If anyone pricing suggestions please let me know.
