Did Vivitar ever rebrand this lens?
I have a Vivitar 500 f/8 and it looks identical to the Tamron/Tokina..
IF anyone wants it, its for sale. Saving for a DA*60-250 or something..

I just got dinged with an 11 dollar fee on a 300 dollar sale, which I feel is ridiculous. I hope I am not alone in this matter....
Do you guys know of any more reasonable alternatives for paypal?

Would you by any chance know anything about when that lens is going to be released? My local camera guy has no idea, and the Canadian reps have no idea either. (Not their faults, they haven't recieved any info).

I will be going to Africa this summer, and that lens fits the bill perfectly, aslong as it comes out before I leave.

PS> Nice shots w/ the 55-300.. I may consider that now if the DA* doesn't get released.

I use a Pentax 360, with an old minolta and or an old pentax flash..

I use the Flashwaves wireless triggers, and they work great.. I got them because unlike PW's or Skyports, I can mount a flash ON the receiver.

I dont really have a favourite subject yet, but I have shot a couple of plays.

Shoot... If prices are that bad there I could just order a sigma for 350 and sell it to you.. Sheesh

That much of a price fluctuation is kinda sad :(.

V2's Pocket wizards, Skyports etc Which do you have and use?

Well, the triggers worked as expected.. w/out a hitch.

Group portraits of restless people after a play is very hard, with mixed lighting..

And thats the beauty of the flashwaves system.. it comes with all of the connectors in the box, and you dont need anything else to mount flashes on it,

I am gonna shoot a play today at around 7, so I can report back then I guess.

Well for what its worth, I was in the same boat as you 3 weeks ago.
I went for the flashwaves, and I have not had a single misfire (except for one, where I pulled out the PC cord). THe flashwaves are great, becasue I can mount a flashgun on the receiver, instead of having to use a pc cord for it. It also synched perfectly at 1/180, which is the most a K1/20D can do.

I am going to use them to shoot a play tomorrow, and I will post again with the results. But from the results, they are well worth the price. I would actually take these over PW's after playing with both because of the hotshoe mount on the receiver.

I was wondering how much a Auto-Chinon 50mm f1.4 is worth.
There is a person selling one on craigslist for the lens + a p3 body for $50.
Thanks

Alrite. My take on it is this:
First and almost foremost, run what your friends use. If your friends dont use these than it's n.a/
Pentax has some of the nicest build quality in the biz, and the K1/20D is no exception. Also, pro grade glass is much cheaper with pentax, and other camera users are even converting pentax lenses to work on their cameras. (I saw an olympus user using a 77mm Ltd. on his e-3.)

The k10d does not have a pc synch, and has a lesser autofocus system compared to the Canons. BUT, when the K10d Locks on focus, it is generally spot on.
With the K20, all the ISO problems go away, and I think its a great system.

Compare a DA*16-50 at 700 bux avg, to a Nikon 17-55 2.8 for around 12-400 dollars avg. You could buy a 16-50 and a 50-135 for the price of just that lens.

Go figure, and get what you feel like you want. Thats the most important thing

The lens I use the most?
My DA* 16-50 that I am selling tomorrow...Beautiful Lens, but I don't use it even close to its potential.
I am going to africa this summer, and I want to learn how to shoot primes.
From now on, I will be "stuck" with a FA-50 1.4 or a 35 2.8 on a pentax me super or k10d. Hopefully, this should teach me how to use artistic shots, instead of snapshots, because I will have to think about framing instead of just zooming around.

Don't forget the DA* 16-50.
It is a great lens, and around here in the Vancouver area, we have had no QC issues that I have heard of. It is an amazing lens even wide open, and gives beautiful colours. It is also weather sealed, but I don't think that will be of much use for a wedding. Don't forget a longer lens for times that you need that extra bit of reach.

If he shoots at 2.8, wont his DOF be paper thin?

Also, Ambient light will not give you that crisp, flashy sharpness that I think you are looking for. I think renting/borrowing lights would be the best thing.
You could probally ask Kerrisdale Cameras, or another store if they do rentals. It would make the pic+life much easier.

Sorry if this is off topic, but I have a question.
At school we are doing a triangles unit (which is verrry boring) and I was wondering something:
In my picture, wouldnt the edges be out of focus because they are not in line?
If you stopped down, of course it would minimize those effects, so they would be covered up?
So based on that, by focusing in the center shouldnt the edges actually be out of focus, when the lens is wide open?

BTW this is a very rough sketch, but I would expect if I measured it out it would be accurate.
Please forgive me if I make no sense :).
Thanks

ME Super lenses with a digital body? - Is it possible?
Posted By ranamar
Replies: 6

Hey,
The main reason I switched to Pentax is that almost all pentax lenses ever made are compatible with their DSLR's. Even screw mount lenses can work with a 30-40 dollar adapter.
All of your lenses should work with a K-series DSLR, but for the M lenses it will only meter for wide open, also no AF for these. For A lenses pretty much everything but autofocus will work.
Have fun,
ranamar
-On my k10d, I use a SMC M-1:2 50mm, I think the same lens supplied with the Me Super, and besides the mentioned metering issues, it works great.
I may even be wrong about the metering, but this is what I was told.

Here are some shots I took this week.
1. My attempt at panning a crow chasing something 6feet away from me.

2. My photo does not give justice to this snowy river near Princeton, BC.

3. Again with the river. I seem to be having an issue with my skys being blown out.

4. Another river somewhere in BC., I forgot where I took this.

5. A try at long exposure w/ a broken tripod.

6. Another try at long exposure w/ my broken tripod. I liked how this one came out.

7. This called the "Spotted Lake" for a reason. There is some sort of formation on the lake that makes it look like that year round.

8. A parrot. Her name is Hannah and she is one of 200 of her species left in the world, because her species sell for anywhere from 16k-30k USD per bird. She can, and has, cut thru a chain link fence with her beak.

Any Comments would be appreciated.

I am gonna be taking a nice little road trip around BC this week. I am starting in vancouver, but I have no real destination. I was wondering if there were any notable spots to go take pics.
Thanks
