A year! That's impressive!! Cant agree with the "never sell" - you'd soon run out of rooms at home :D

Sell when not used and then buy again if needed :)

I'm maybe not the best one to reply to this but .... It sounds like you've been thinking about this a fair bit so I'll try.
I think it will come down to what you are really after:
1) - a replacement for the K-50? The KP is an excellent choice but I would try to hold it first; I sold mine after a year as I hated the grips - other than that - no issues whatsoever.
2) The GR is "in addition to..." so again (I think it was Sandy that mentioned it) do you like the 28mm FOV? On your K-50 that's going to be like using 18mm all the time.
I tried to use the Panasonic LX-5 (and still do occasionally) but I always think afterwards - I wish I'd had my proper camera. Inevitably now its either a (D)SLR for me or I make do with my phone.

The KP is a great camera - I sold mine after a year because I just could not get on with any of the grips. If you've not held one yet I would definitely recommend doing so but there are obviously lots of users who do find it comfortable to hold. Another option is to get the K-1 and use the 50-135 in APSC mode.

Having arrived a little late to the party with the FA* lenses I have definitely come to appreciate their qualities. I have had the FA*24 for a few years now and have been looking for a zoom with quality and rendering of my DA*200. Finally this year a fine copy came up in Japan for a very sensible price.
I have enjoyed this last month; the lens is different to anything else I own being both long and heavy but the rendering has that special look I was after and it zooms and focuses internally so does not change length at all. I cannot say either that I noticed any impact from focus breathing (unlike the DA*60-250 that I sold).
Wide open, stopped down, short end or long end - this lens performs well. You even get a hint of swirly bokeh at wider apertures, longer focal lengths and shorter focal distances.
I was impressed with the power zoom - not sure why some reviewers think of this as a gimmick - zoom and focus with one finger on the PZ ring; great trick :-)
Handling; feels a bit clunky when trying to manoeuvre it around the camera bag but the important bit is that it feels beautifully balanced on the K-1. Probably the only issue I have with the lens is that the tripod foot is too small (needs to be more like the size of the foot on the A 400/5.6)
Anyway, I feel sure that this lens will be staying with me for the foreseeable future.

Ok, still in for MoNovember - my latest Ebay find (after a year of waiting) turned up today - so here it is proudly displayed with the two lenses I own that it fits :)

All things considered these hoods don't seem easy to come by - I still haven't found one for the A24:( (have to use the Nikon  HN-1 atm)

Ok - this sounds like time for some experimentation then so I'll do mostly mono but I'll need some colour too to fully check out the lens.
Decided to definitely run with the A 28 f2.0 as I really quite fancy the focal length.

As it happens I've finally stumbled across a genuine Pentax lens hood for my A28/35 on Ebay so I've grabbed that as well :D Also turns out to be a few miles down the coast so hopefully the postal service won't send it via Birmingham :D:D:D

I might play again. After a month of a big and heavy zoom I'll be needing a small manual prime - probably in the region of 24/28/35.
28 might be good - wide on the K-1, 43-equivalent on the K-3 - lots of options with filters and reversing rings too. Mmmmmm.

After this month with the FA*80-200 (what a great lens :D) I'm glad pretty much all my others are of the more compact variety !!

After a positively herculean effort I've caught up with comments so I apologise if I've missed any along the way :)
A successful day for me as I got out and about with my camera, sorted out our son's flat, sold a lens on Ebay, bought a camera bag on Ebay and cracked all the comments - great :D:D:D
now..... November - we'll have to see yet .....

Lots of good points; The 80-200 has definite uses for me (I'd normally combine the 31/43 with the DFA 100) but I agree that it is easier to think less about composition - so we just have to concentrate that bit more :)
As an early adopter (2011) I liked my 18-135 very much but I sold it after buying the 20-40 (not the same at all I know but I just always used the 20-40 and 100Macro combo).
I did actually have the 24-90 for the K-1 and it is indeed a good lens.
I sold it and bought the 28-105 for the WR more than anything else. I also prefer the 20mm FL to 24mm so adding my A20 to the 28-105 and DA200 just works better for me.

Soooooo many lenses to try out and play with

Thanks Gary; had a couple of look-throughs now. I'm happy with my DFA 28-105 but after using this months lens I was curious about the FA* 28-70 as it's a similar weight to the DFA 24-70 and a lot cheaper but it also has a far more sensible filter size (and its silver!).
The images taken on a rainy day looked good; I liked the colours produced when it was overcast and the lens especially looked good at F2.8-4.

All my images with the DFA 28-105 were taken at f4.5 and up so the FA* would give me more options although 25% of my images were over the 70mm focal length.

Thinking all this through as I type I may well end up with two kits!!! DFA 28-105 with DA*200 (main set up) or the FA*28-70 and FA* 80-200........ mmmmm.
Or just stick with FA31/43/FA* 80-200.

Ho Hum lots to think about and no real rush to get there :)

So after a busy day prepping for Ebay (1 sellers fees are back) I've caught up with my commenting ...... but no .... got to yesterday and Flickr's gone down again :(
might be finishing the month with ipernity at this rate :)

---------- Post added 10th Oct 2020 at 18:52 ----------

Back up so cracking on :)

General question while I think about it - does anyone own (or used to own) an FA* 28-70 f2.8? I've been very impressed with the 80-200 so far so just wondered if there were any experienced thoughts out there. or ... should I just stick to the DFA 28-105?

TIA :)

Ive been through this same thought process with the recent changes to Flickr. My subscription changed from $49.99 to 55.88 - approx $72.50. This year I decided to renew because as part of the Flickr Pro subscription you get a two month redemption code with Adobe. This is worth 20.20 ($26) to me so Flickr effectively cost me $46.50 for the year. YMMV :):)

As consumers I think we benefit more with longer intervals between camera model release dates. :)
Having a new model every 3/4 years with genuinely new innovation is much more palatable than being given the hard sell on the latest and greatest version of a camera with an incremental update in technology.
When the latter happens the company still has stocks of the previous version on the (online) shelves and so doesn't do themselves any favours IMHO.
