Thematic The Yard Birds Thread

Those Fairy Wren are beautiful, why are all of the most beautiful birds so hard to shoot? It does seem that way, but then so many of them are very small and very active. You would think wrens are a nervous wreck. What's odd about those Pileated Woodpeckers, and Red-Headed Woodpeckers too, are that they are larger, but flighty like smaller birds, and they are usually high in the canopy.

Since we moved we are near the habitat of the red-cockaded woodpecker, which I have not seen one yet. They are not an endangered species but they are close because their habitat is disappearing. I can get to one of their big habitat areas in about a 10 minute drive, but as of yet unsuccessful in spotting any. But I have seen my first pine warblers in that same area.

The beaches are not empty here, but this one is not too crowded, but you have to get to this island by boat. These were yesterday:

yes, really scrutinize some of those reviews, I read one the other day from a woman who was trashing a product that she didn't have, she didn't like one of the companies other products. And look at the most recent first, because some of these companies/suppliers on Amazon just slap labels on, and they change suppliers.

Who would believe they would be watching a video review of a 50 year old lens? LOL, he could get way better performance from a KP and 33-300 PLM.

Battery Problem

There are three contacts in the camera body, shine a flashlight in to observe, make sure that none are bent, etc. The contacts on the batteries and the AA adapter are slightly different, there's a center one on the battery that isn't on the adapter. Possibly the center one is not making contact. Or even any could be off a little where they are contacting your adapter, but not the battery, that's a long shot but could happen due to slight differences.

Best way to check critical focus for landscapes and focus stacking on K-1?

I would suggest:
#1 Switch camera (and lens if needed) to manual focus, switch shutter release to 2 second delay
#3 Zoom in and focus on closest or farthest part you want in focus
#6, I would just move the focus ring by small increments after each shutter release

LOL, those are something all right! I had to look through some scan I have of old pictures that belonged to my Grandma, ones that we don't know who they are. There is one that has an arm coming from the side holding a little kid in a chair. And I may have found one like in the article, not sure, but maybe:

I've not heard of that company. Earlier this month I bought a couple batteries for my KP on Amazon from Big Mike's Electronics, I would have to say they are the worst aftermarket batteries i have ever tried. About six days ago I got an email from them asking how I liked them, and to leave a positive review if I did, but if I didn't like them contact them before leaving a negative review. I contacted them but they have not responded. I will be sending them back unless they give me some great deal to keep them. I ordered a pair of Wasabis a couple days ago. They are not all the same.

The Fujifilm Instax is basically a disposable camera, I see this when I see how many used ones are on the market. I think Fuji has made enormous profits on those toy looking camera. But I doubt there was a huge development cost to those, marketing cost were probably higher, and well worth it to Fuji.

Mirrorless Isn't All It's Cracked Up to Be

I did have an a6000 for a couple of years, I was shooting K-50 and I acquired a KP about a year after getting the a6000. The a6000 image quality was comparable to the K-50 even though it was 24mp vs 16mp. I got it because of the fast autofocus and small size. But the autofocus speed wasn't really that much faster than most of the Pentax lenses on the K-50. I had four lenses with it, only two I would call decent, a 30 macro and 20/2.8. The Sony 20/2.8 was a nice lens and I liked it. a pancake that made the getup pocketable. It was hard tom use shooting at night because of the limited controls (one wheel). The real plus for the Sony was the burst speed, which was something like 12 frames per second, it was nice when shooting soccer or basketball. But it was not really an intuitive camera, and I just never really loved shooting with it. And really after the KP came along, I didn't use it much. If there would have been an autofocus telephoto that was affordable I may have kept it. But they were selling a slow 70-300 for around a $1000.

I was in a Best Buy a few days ago and noticed they are still selling that a6000 new, at about twice what it should be, still with that awful 16-50. I bought mine used and did not have that lens, but I did have a very poor 16mm prime. I don't mean to say that all mirrorless cameras are not as good as DSLRs, but you can get a bottom of the line camera sometimes and get a different experience that you might get from a higher model.
