are you happy with switching to FF?

The first lens I mounted on my K-1 was my FA 50 macro. It was like revisiting an old friend. The field of view was so different than my K10D and K3. Even using my Tamaron 70-200 just seemed more natural. However the main reason I keep always going for the K-1 is I simply enjoy using it more. It has less to do with FF versus ASP-C. I do feel the K-1 Raw files are easier to work with. However, I said that about the K3 files when I upgraded from my K10D. Ergonomically I find the K-1 better than the K3.

I am very happy with the K-1 and it was evrrything I have been waiting so many years for. Do I feel my photos are better than with the K3? No not really, but I do enjoy using the K-1 more. I am so heavily invested in the ASP-C format that I have no desire to leave it. When I can handle two cameras I put my long lens on the K3 and my wide angle on the K-1. One thing I will say about the K-1 is that I use my 60-250 more now with the K-1 than I did with the K3. I absolutely love the 60-250 on the K1. My poor Tamron 70-200 has been very lonely these days.

In the end if I had to go with one system it would be ASP-C. I can not afford, nor desire, the expense extremely heavy new DFA lenses. Maybe if Richoh comes out with more lenses like the DFA 28-105 I will get more excited about some new DFA lenses. About the only FF lenses I would consider now would be the FA Limiteds. I'm covered in FF from 12mm to 500mm.

I keep checking back in here. I'm still on the fence about uograding. I unexpectedly won an eBay auction for a FA20-35 so there went some of money. I know time is running out and I really have not anyone say they regretted the upgrade. I doubt my K-1 has more than 10,000 shots on it yet. It may be time to sell a few lenses.

Very true, I'm still learning with FA 20-35 on the K-1. It is definitely is a different lens.

Thank you, I never figured I would own the Sigma 180 Macro. Usually they sell for around 800 US Dollars. Then I came across one in mint condition for 450 US Dollars. I jumped on it figuring it was now or never. It has been a trying lens to learn. It is twice the size of my DFA 100 Macro WR. I did not expect to get the FA 20-35. I won that on an EBay auction. I was shocked to get the message that I won it. I figured I was going to get outbid as usual.

Another Sigma 180 Macro, K-1, and AF540FGZII flash.

Is KP a worthy “upgrade” from K3?

If I were looking into another ASP-C camera it would be the KP. The reason I never got the K3ii was the lack of an articulating screen pure and simple. When I grab for a camera now it is almost always the K-1. However I know you stated FF is not for you. It seems the KP would definitely be a great choice. I use my IR remotes quite a bit so the lack of the IR sensor is real problem for me. For now I'm holding out for the K3 replacement.

I almost bought a FA77 last year. I regret not buying it. I bought a Sigma 180 Macro 3.5 which is a much rarer find. I came across one for an unheard of price in K mount. The Sigma 85 was a local purchase so I actually held it. Yeah it is a massive hunk of glass. Sigma was never really known for compact lenses it seems. The FA 77 is still on my list. Probably a next year purchase. I picked up a FA20-35 unexpectedly because I got one at a reasonable price. My lens budget is now 100% frozen until I decide if I'm upgrading my K-1 or not.

Those shots from the Sigma 35 are outstanding. That really is a special lens. It is good to hear the focusing issues have been addressed.

Tammy 70-200 locked on a K-1

I have had my Tamron 70-200 for several years. I have used it in all kinds of weather conditions. Even in the conservatory during the butterfly exhibit when humidity is 80%. I have never had an issue taking the lens on or off. It has been used on my K10D, K3, K50, and even my K-01. Hopefully it is just an isolated event. I will say that Tamron 70-200 has never worked in Liveview on any of my camera bodies. I had a copy of the Sigma 70-200 OS HSM and that really did not work in liveview either. So it is not just a Tamron issue there.

I just picked a FA 20-35 here in the United States for $379 in excellent condition. The was another one that was selling for $419, but it appears to be gone now. I know the price on some of those FA 20-35's seems a bit much. There are a couple of Tokina 20-35's in the Marketplace.

I really didn't find the Sigma too heavy I just knew I would not use it enough. It is not a particularly cheap lens even used. I have a Rokinon 85 1.4 that I can still use. How do you like the 35 Art? I have heard many bad stories about focusing problems. That is one lens I would use.
