  • Payment is via Paypal (as the seller, fees will of course be my responsibility).

  • Shipping will be with Canada Post, and to save time, I will make it a flat rate for $15 to Canada, and $20 to CONUSA. I will ship ONLY to PayPal verified addresses. Sigma 30mm f1.4 EX - $260

It pains me to sell this lens, as I have taken so many memorable photos over the years with it. It has one year left of the Canadian Sigma warranty (10 year warranty on the lens purchased in 2007). It is transferable to US owners as per Sigma. I sold it once, and bought the same copy back!

Anyway, this lens is in great shape optically, with only some scuffs on the body and lens hood. It comes in the original box, the large black padded case, warranty card and original purchase receipt.

Most importantly, is that with the K100D, K7, and now K5 bodies i've owned, I have always been able to adjust the focus so that it focuses accurately.

Fujifilm X100S $460

For sale is a black Fuji X100S. The X100S has a few wear marks on the paint, and most notable, a small scratch above the lens (see photos). It's functioning perfectly. Included will be the battery, charger, and strap. No lens cap on the X100S.

Here is a black Pentax MX which has seen a lot of cosmetic wear. The meter is working, and the shutter speeds to change speeds. I did notice that the 1/2 and full second times are a bit sticky though. I am not a camera repairer, so these items have not been tested properly. The included winder also appears to function in both modes, based on my quick test with AA batteries. I will include a 50mm f2 as a body cap!

Please PM me with any questions. Thanks for looking,

Katz-Eye vs. Stock Screen vs. Focusingscreens.com

I have used the ee-s from focusing screens on my k7 and now the katzeye without opbrite on my k5.

They are both excellent. I have not noticed any additional metering trouble from either, but I use mostly manual lenses.

Between the two I really like and appreciate the split prism of the katzeye. It makes focusing even easier than the ee-s. I find that the hit rate is better with the katzeye as the split prism is easier to confirm with your eyes than the plain matte screen. With that said, I recommend both because they are such a huge improvement over the stock screen.

Like other said, make sure you calibrate it with shims correctly!

FF vs APS-C

I know this was back in the thread a bit, but I've just been reading through it now.

I find ironic when the classic statement that all the top professionals are shooting FF is brought up. There is no doubt they all pretty much do. That's not the issue. But this also means that they were all shooting with FF years ago with for example a 5D. They were still making great photos then weren't they? Making lots of money no? Well unless they were always shooting wide open for an advantage in DoF, all of the other image quality measures would have been a wash with someone shooting a aps-c k5.

So somelne using a k5 is getting all the image quality and ISO performance that the 'top professionals' all had 5 or so years ago with their FF cameras minus that extra stop and a half of DoF.

Got my K-5 II

Hi Tony,

Congrats on finding a K5II! I still have the "old" K5, however I find it to be a great camera to shoot with. I have the "Info" screen turned off and have rarely ever had to make use of it to change any settings. I am sure you will find it very intuitive after a little while. One tip for the Manual to Auto ISO: Press the "ISO" button on the top of the camera and use the rear scroll wheel to manually select ISO. When you want to go back to Auto, just press the "ISO" button again and then the "Green" button on the rear of the camera.

Good luck!

It is a full frame lens I think, and a proper K mount so here is nothing stopping you from using it on a apc dslr...

I was able to find a couple obscure examples of pics taken with the lens on some Japanese websites but obviously I couldn't make both much of what they were saying about it.

Thanks again for posting your results. I find that it's a very useful resource to have rather than just someone's text.

I also agree with your assessment of results and am impressed with the TC results. I may need to dust mine of and try them with a better quality lens or two.

Just curious what the old 2x you used was? I have an d vivitar 2x macro and it seems to do a decent job for what it is.

Some Older TC Performance Tests

Thanks for taking the time to post your results. I'm a bit of a tester also and Iike to compare images in this way as well.

I am curious though if you have compared your native shots with the TC shots after cropping it and then resizing back to full resolution using lanczos or some other similar algorithm?

Whenever I've run my own tests, I have been much less impressed with the TC results, especially considering the loss in speed (light), handling, and magnification of lens flaws.

Just some of my random thoughts. I find it's always hard to compare images unless they are at or near the same resolution.

I had an issue on a copy of the Tamron 70-300 where it had sticky aperture blades that sometimes got stuck at certain apertures. Perhaps that is what's happening with yours?

Try shooting in manual aperture, using the aperture ring. And even check to see if the aperture is closing right when you adjust the ring (before you shoot)

Good luck!
