At this moment I'm corresponding with a guy who's writen Photoshop scripts before and I'm trying to convince him to modify his script so an overlay is being put on top of an image to visualise the used AF point. :-)

Now all we need is someone with some programming skills... I know that in Photoshop scripting is quite "evolved" so I see great potentional.
Unfortunatly I'm not a programmer but I think it should be possible to create script that uses the data to impose the AF point in a layer on top of the original image.
If I'm not mistaking it's even possible to use a spreadsheet as data source, so there must be a way to:
1 use the image name as id/link
2 retrieve data from the xls
3 let PS create a red square in a layer defined by the data from the spread sheet (or hide/unhide a certain layer)
4 process further...

edit: check this link

This is VERY interesting! :-)

The only method of visualising which AF point is used I know is by changing the layout with the info setting when viewing photo's on the camera's screen.
You'll see the grid and the AF point lights up :-)

I own a Sigma 70-200 2.8 APO DG HSM and a Tamron 70-200 2.8 Di... Pros and cons to my opinion:
Pros, Tamron: sharper at 2.8/3.2, lighter, cheaper

Pros Sigma: OS (which is redundant for my purpose)

I mostly shoot sighthounds at +/-50km/h, relatively close at 10 meters and can't accept the IQ of the Sigma at 2.8 that's why I added the Tamron.
I'm quite surprised by the AF in combination with the K3.

Okay, they both are sharp from 4.0 and up but what's the use of a 2.8 lens when images are too soft???
At this moment I've got the Sigma on hold and shoot everything with the Tamron...

Maybe "striping-like" writing on the two SD-Card slots?

IMG001 --> Card 1
IMG002 --> Card 2
IMG003 --> Card 1
IMG004 --> Card 2
IMG005 --> Card 1
IMG006 --> Card 2
IMG007 --> Card 1
IMG008 --> Card 2

Theoretically this should double writing speed thus taking half the time to flush the buffer.

"We'll sort them out back home" :-)

I tried the Tamron 70-200 last saturday with pretty bad weather and I'm very impressed with the speed of the AF, it's close to the Sigma's HSM and accurate.
Personally I find the shots at 2.8 a lot more usable (sharp/crisp instead of really soft) than the Sigma's, the Tamron is a keeper!

I'm having a bad day... received the Tamron 70-200 and guess what, the frontfocus is so bad that I can't get it corrected at -10! ... Anyway, coming weekend I'm hoping for some sun so I can test the AF speed on my dogs.
What I can say is that I'm quite impressed so far, AF speed seems fast enough indoors with bad lighting. Sometimes it hunts but so does the Sigma.

Don't let anyone fool you, both Tamron and Sigma are not sharp at 2.8, do some research and read several reviews
Why is 2.8 important, do you shoot at night? With the available lenses for Pentax you won't get the crisp sharp image you probably want, trust me, been there, done that...

Check (for example):

Maybe because it was too expensive too? (to build a powerful reliable motor into a body)

Just received it, I can't wait to shoot. I've struggled with the Sigma since day 1 and learned a lot since then, front and back focussing, focus plane shifting, maximum aperture, etc... really interesting but I just to shoot without these problems haha...

I'm going to try a Tamron 70-200 this weekend to really compare it in action with my Sigma 70-200 DG HSM, I'm not satisfied with the image quality and AF reliability of the Sigma :-(
I'm shooting dogs (sighthounds) too...

Thanks! I agree they work pretty well, I'm cuious if there might be some "magical"combination. I'm using AF-C 99,9% of the time in combination with AF2, focus hold "medium".

I personally prefer to use AF2 but I wonder if there's a difference in the way the AF calculates.
With AF back button enabled, does the AF system keep focussing all the time, I mean uninterupted. Or does it AF finally at the moment you press the shutter full.
Does the halfway shutter method work the same?
SO is one of these methods more accurate for (fast) moving objects???

Great shots!
I'm wondering, how does the Tamron perform on the K3, especialle AF speed/accuracy? I'm using a Sigma 70-200 HSMII at this moment and am considering a switch.
