Monitor fault

You could try rubbing the monitor with your finger, in the areas where the lines are. Rubbing maybe near the edge, where they start? Though usually issues like that are vertical lines, not horizontal.

This seems to be a common Super A problem, though I don't know the fix. (Maybe it's the same as the K1000 above.)

I think all AF lights are annoying in dark environments, except maybe for invisible infrared ones.

Old film becomes less sensitive to light; the advice is to overexpose a bit, in order to get the film exposed properly. What you're seeing may be artifacts as Not A Number has suggested.

I had a 280T for years, and the latch on the battery door latch broke. I recently got another one to replace it, and the battery door latch broke on my first outing. Let me know how it goes for you.

645 battery holder

Does it still work? It seems like the sides of the "socket" that the battery holder goes in would provide some support against the springs. You could also try taping it to hold it together, you could put holes in the tape where it needs to make contact.

See if you can figure out what contacts are on the lens, and see if all those contacts are on your film 645.

Yeah, but it's only, what, 10 photos per roll these days; it shouldn't take to long to finish up that roll.

Someone came up with a method to use Aperture, iTunes, and iPhoto on Catalina:

Printing in Aperture -- change recently - prints too dark?

No, same paper & ink, though I did recalibrate my display with different software recently..

It does seems to be some sort of software issue, as in many cases my prints come out almost exactly the same as before if I print using Preview. I have only printed photos I had printed in April, though, and soon I will print some slightly older photos, so hopefully those work as well. But if not, that might indicate there was a change sometime between last summer and this past April?

Since Aperture is not being updated, something could have changed in the OS that affected it. But Preview is still current software, so that would get updated.

Printing in Aperture -- change recently - prints too dark?

I was wondering if there had been a change in printing with Aperture recently? I was reprinting photos that I had printed perfectly back in April, but attempting to reprint them now, they are too dark and the colors are off. Was there a change that affected Aperture during that time? I have recently switched to High Sierra, but I believe the results in Sierra are the same.

When I export as TIFFs and print from an older version of Photoshop (CS3), the prints are quite good, and when I tried printing from Preview, they also came out well -- almost exactly the same as the prints I had done in Aperture back in April. The CS3 ones were good, but not exactly the same as the older prints. I might prefer the Preview prints, but I'm not sure it gives me the flexibility to control the size of the printed image as well as Photoshop or Aperture. And I believe that CS3 can't output 16-bit data to the printer (assuming Epson supports that).

Any suggestions on my best printing strategy here? Or information about changes that affect Aperture that I might be able to work around or undo?

I've used both those films, and they seem way grainier than I would expect. I figured the film was not so hi-res, or maybe the processing was off, but maybe it is just the negative is so small and I didn't realize that.

What do you mean by tiny? I think that Pentax could make a smaller FF SLR; what is the smallest FF SLR that exists?

Pentax could also probably make a smaller FF by not having IBIS, but that would be a bigger negative than positive.

Vertical line across Pentax 67 negatives

Does the line go to the edge of the film -- outside of the picture area? If yes, then it is more likely a lab/development issue.

The 67 has a horizontal shutter, so it could create a vertical line.

I think the difficulty lies not in making a DSLR, but in making a DSLR and being able to improve it beyond the previous model. Maybe making it faster, more features, etc. are what is hard, and possibly harder to improve the speed because you have the more complex and heavier mirror/shutter to deal with.

The real truth on the MZ-S mirror motor gear?

Checking the two MZ-Ss I have by using the DOF preview trick, if that is the actual gear you can see, both of mine are brass. This seems to be a really good way to determine what your gear is, if it is in fact the right gear that is visible.

One of the cameras starts with a 4 serial number, and the other starts with 5. Both say Asahi Optical Co.

Venting about paper sizes!!

I think the 8x10, 5x7 sizes are kind of dumb, since I mostly use the 2x3 (35mm) ratio. The only problem is that while 13x19 paper is easy to get, 13x19 frames are less common than the traditional frame sizes.
