Number 14 ... I think all the images are excellent. Nonetheless, I feel the awesome power of the wave, it's raw beauty, the great exposure. Indeed, IFeelIt!...love...

12 & 13 are my "which one" shots. I didn't pick # 13, my favorite...There is serious excellence in it. However, I vote for #12 because it is dynamic on too many points to list them all. Well done are both of these because they passed beyond focus, proper exposure, composition, and subject matter. Technically superb, they carried me into the realm of photographic art. Congratulations to every nominee...super fine submissions all.

I hadn't had my K1 for even thirty days and the 2017 Total Eclipse of the Sun over parts of America was suddenly on everyone's radar. I had no idea what I was doing. ...However, I just happened to have a friend in SC and asked if I could crash at her and her husband's home up in NW South Carolina. "Yes," they said, and I went at the spur of the moment. After studying the path of the sun, my dear friend shuttled me to her aunt's house in the middle of no where, but near dead center of the sun's path. Everything happened so fast. I took hundreds of shots. I pulled away on the focal length, so as to not lose sight. I was a true novice at such an event and made a number of mistakes. Regardless, I had driven nearly eight hours and all the time and money I knew was at risk. Yet, I might never get another chance. This image is heavily cropped. Nonetheless, I believe it was worth the trip to get it... Great friend, and great excitement. I've taken many digital shots I consider superior, but they were not taken with a RICOH/PENTAX camera. I submit this image because of the adventure. ...love...

Wow!....All these are super shots... Can there be a fifteen image tie? Oh, well, I choose image 15 because it is a scissor-tailed fly catcher, which is a favorite and the image is fantastic. Great take!

Numbers 8, 12, and 14 all intrigue me...and they are simply excellent images (as all 15 images prove very fine)... I vote number 14...It has too many excellent technical and artistic elements to list them all.

After attempting shots with a vintage (1970) RICOH extension tube and mounted with a vintage RICOH Bayonet 1:f 2.8 35 mm lens, I was not satisfied....I went to a manual focus 1984 RICOH 70 to 210 Zoom set to macro and added HOYA #4 & # 2 close up lenses...still not satisfied. I finally put on the 55-300 AF DA with the same close up lenses. I shot at 55 mm and used the smallest aperture I could and still maintain some shutter speed as the conditions were breezy.ISO was 800... I took hundreds of images. When I had a visiting creature, I just thought, how nice. For transparency sake, I used a heavy crop to square final image which should show about 3X flower/insect size ...love... PS,For reference sake, the little yellow flower parts are smaller that a pin head... My shooting all happened over a four day period with several subjects, and my submitted image was taken on the 14th on my last shoot.
