I can confirm that the large grip does come with the D-BG7.

I found the combination transformational with large lenses - my DFA150-450 practically lived on my KP on my recent Antarctic trip, and it handled brilliantly.

Although I like the small grip in combination with DA limiteds, I haven't bothered to switch back from the large one.

Have you had a top-flight chateauneuf du pape? Australian winemakers have made their own versions of Grenache/Sirah/Mouvedre wine for generations, but the original is still the benchmark.

This is the most important point, which I think you are slightly misunderstanding.

As I understand it, "distance from the talent" is the only determinant of perspective and all that implies. That is exactly why a lens behaves longer on a crop camera. The only downside is you lose a stop of ultimately shallow depth of field, if that is important to your portraiture.

Pick a good quality, fast lens with the focal length which gives you an appropriate camera to subject distance for the perspective you want. That is why the DA*55 (=86mm on FF) and FA77 (=116mm on FF) are so popular.

How many aperture blades do the sigma 50mm macros have?

For what it's worth, the current Pentax DFA 50/2.8 macro has eight. It is pretty highly regarded. Probably not compatible with photography on a shoestring though ;)

I can't help you with the Sigmas, and nor can the review database.

[correction] the older of the two Sigmas listed in the database has six blades mentioned in one of the reviews [/correction]

On my 2016 trip to the UK, my Sirui did a great job of holding my K-1 steady with the substantial DFA15-30 mounted.

With the relatively svelte FA31 it was no problem at all.

Italy-France kit thoughts and the inevitable upgrade question

From everything I've read about the K-70 I would definitely recommend it. It shares a lot of core technology with my KP, which I absolutely love (and took to Italy in the summer of 2017).

Your 16-45 and 55-300 will make a very versatile combination. If green button metering gets you down, investing in a DA50/1.8 would be a good cheap option for low light and shallow DoF when wanted.

I'd want something a bit wider than 16mm, but it would do at a pinch.

Every time I pack for a trip, I find it impossible to leave out the DFA15-30. The versatility is well worth the the weight.

Sometimes I throw in the DA15 and/or DA21 with a couple of 49mm filters, just in case. They rarely get used.

Not to mention that re-coating may well change the properties of the elements enough to change the whole optical formula of the lens.

All BBF does is better seperate the act of focussing with image capture. Any AF setting which worked before will still work.

Enjoy the path of enlightenment.

You understand how economies of scale work on production lines, don't you?
It might be cheaper to buy a modern equivalent.

Anyway, old lenses are desirable because of their vintage characteristics. Why mess around with them?

No such lens exists.
Which compromises are you willing to make?

Weight, size and filters? DFA15-30/2.8
WR? FA20/2.8 or FA*24/2.0 - maybe FA20-35/4.0
AF? Irix 15/2.4 Blackstone or Firefly

They're not kids, but THESE RUNNERS are all running towards me while I'm walking towards them. I reckon the K-1 Mark II copes pretty well, even with the humble DFA28-105 mounted.
