[SOLD] Pentax SMC 1000mm f/8.0 (Worldwide)

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
Pentax SMC 1000mm f/8.0

Asking Price
$850

Item Location
Houston, TX

Item Description
Here's the ultimate Pentax super-telephoto (okay, except for the 1200mm). 1000mm of reach at a reasonable f/8. I bought this from KEH but I just don't use it enough to justify keeping it. This lens needs someone that will put it to good use, and I just don't have the time to devote to this lens.

This lens was rated as a "Bargain" at KEH, which means the following:

"Bargain" 70-79% of original condition. Shows more than average wear. May have dents, dings and/or brassing and finish loss. Glass may have marks and/or blemishes that should not affect picture quality*.

This lens has few blemishes and no dents or dings on the barrel and the elements have no marks. Optically and mechanically, it functions great. The included case has considerable wear, but still does a good job of protecting the lens for storage and transport. Finally, the lens includes the original lens caps, and a built-in lens hood. Of course, you'll need a sturdy tripod, and the lens has a tripod collar. There are two reviews of the lens (not my specific lens) here in the review section, plus Bojidar's site has additional information (size, weight, etc).

If you have questions, please send me a note.

All my photos are online and you can see them in these two set:

Pentax SMC 1000mm f/8 - a set on Flickr

Baytown bald eagle - a set on Flickr

I'll add the photos to this post later.

Super sweet lens. I had the S-M-C Tak version and sold it to another forum user... at times I kind of regret it.

Why must this lens tempt me so. Why aren't you selling it next month?

This is a ludicrously ludicrous lens. Wow. It's sad that my lottery ticket isn't the winning one this time either, I would have bought this just as a collector...

I have a copy and, in case anyone has doubts, let me assure you it isn't some novelty--it's a serious lens. It's slow of course, but in decent light delivers very impressive resolution. And, though it's a bit beat up, the case is a really important accessory.

Yes it’s worth getting just for peoples reaction when you have it out for a shoot. Great lens and one of my favorites.

You are correct. The lens has iron sights. Fun to use, and also useful for locating the target initially.

Thanks!

I've noticed my picture of the front element has a bunch of dust. I'll see if I can take a clearer picture and get it posted. I'll also see if I can get a "through" shot so people can evaluate the innards.
