This lens is sharp and very contrast'y and produces excellent images. The 1:2.5 macro gets you pretty close to your subjects and produces some very detailed pictures - macro is available throughout the entire zoom (one of very few macro lenses to incorporate this in a zoom) which makes this a very good backup macro lens to have with a macro kit.
