POTW 155: 27 February - 13 March 2011

Welcome to the 155th edition of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week. Thanks to Nomad for hosting last week and for passing the torch to me.

This edition covers photos taken between 27 February and 13 March, 2011. That lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax (and Samsung) cameras in the parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas, learn from one another, and have a good time.

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week. A special welcome to all new members!

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Previous hosts: Each one is a hotlink to that POTW thread to look back at the previous POTW's.

It is still wickedly cold (though Environment Canada is tempting us with a promise of rising temperatures, right in time to go back to work, of course) and the lack of colour is getting depressing. I attended a flash workshop yesterday which was great fun. I will spare you the results of my garish efforts to put some of what I learned into practice for now, but here's a shot from my trip to the workshop, pleasing to me because it shows some colour besides brown and white!

Thanks for hosting Joe, sorry this Eastern Bluebird is not in focus, but I'm excited anyway because it's a sure sign of Spring.

Flooding has been the theme of the last week:

Ramsey, Those flood pictures make my skin crawl. My in-laws own a business in a flood zone and we hold our breath every spring... got bitten in 1896, 1938, and 1987.

We are down in Cancun and these are a couple of snap shots a few minutes after checking in to our hotel.

Well, seems we are off to a busy start.

Jeff, I am assuming from the smiley that you are not amused with that snow filled street. It does get old doesn't it? But very nicely rendered nonetheless.

Good to see you check in Rense and getting close to some fungi. Great DOF!

Robin, an interesting treatment on those paint cans, and effective given the context.

planedriver, nice to see you (literally). That first shot of the bird has a wonderful grace against the contrast of the urban background.

Tom, a fuzzy image of a bluebird is okay when it is such a relief to see one. I saw a robin today and did a double take. I haven't seen one in so long! And I hope you don't have too rough a time with flooding, but it does make for some interesting shots!

And Nomad, glad you made it safely to Cancun. Must be a nice break from winter. I especially like the clouds in the third image.

I took advantage of the sun to take some shots at a nearby university campus. But it was still below -20C so I didn't spend as much time as I would have liked.

I've tried this twice. When I edit the message the image tag appears, but not showing up in the post. G'night.
