POTW 156: 6 March - 13 March 2011

Welcome to the 156th edition of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week. Thanks to jmschrei for hosting last week and for passing the torch to me.

This edition covers photos taken between 6 March and 20 March, 2011. That lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax (and Samsung) cameras in the parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas, learn from one another, and have a good time.

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week. A special welcome to all new members!

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Hello everyone and welcome to this weeks POTW. I am the host, though I have no idea what I am doing here, or what I am supposed to do! Here's hoping we have a bumper POTW. I must mention that I like this forum very much, this thread in particular, which gives such a well rounded view of the different parts of our global village.
Thank you Joe (jmschrei) for hosting last week's POTW. Some fantastic pics there as usual.
Phew, it was a bit of touch and go with his hosting. My internet connection has been giving me trouble all day, and hence I could not log onto the forum. So I beg your pardon if I have caused some anxiety for some. Off we go then.
I'll start of on a piscatorial note.

Fish and fruit-for the health freak (that's me ) Dinner one evening, consisting of fish and fruit- there's paw-paw, peach, grapes and avocado there. looked so good I had to take a pic.


Then today I was at the pet shop to buy some food for my snake (rat) and seeing I had the k200 with me, thought I'd try my hand on some fish. Not easy, these are some of the better ones.

The Tree Shows the Way -- nice catch!

I spent Saturday at an event called the Winter Raptorfest. There were several bird handlers with their Falcons, Owls, and Hawks. It was held in a barn with the kind of light you expect to find in a barn and very crowded so I didn't have an easy time. The first is with my Sigma 70-300 at full length and second is late in the day with the DA 10-17 and both shots aided with a Metz 48.

Clou- agree with SpecialK-very nice series. Both of them. Well spotted images there. Like the tree face,-especially that you did not call it Treebeard-from Lord of the Rings. And the chicken bomb? Love that crocus too.
Robin- as always, great shots from you.
SpecialK-your images remind me of the Fantastic 4-rise of the Silver Surfer. Which I watched Sunday evening. That POW memorial very much like the Silver Surfer. And of course there is the "invisible" person sitting on that bench.
Jmschrei-77million? You sure do love your art.
JeffJS-is that a substation. It certainly communicates complexity. Reminds me of a paper mill that you drive past on the way to the Kruger Park. It stinks like rotten cabbage, but yours conveys cleanness and control. Nice series of the military vehicles, especially the last one-could have sworn that space alien winked at me.
Xjjohnno, love that image of the old man with the hotrod. Usually associate older folk with sedateness and soberness, not the wildness of youth and hotrods. Great image. And of course, love images of flowers.
Reeftool-My kind of shot, and I am still hoping one day to be able to get such close up shots of rapors. I like
