Pic of the Week 1st May thru 15th May

Welcome to the 164rd edition of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week.

This edition covers photos taken between 1st May through 15th May. That lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax (and Samsung) cameras in the parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas, learn from one another, and have a good time.

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week. A special welcome to all new members!

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Previous hosts: Each one is a hotlink to that POTW thread to look back at the previous POTW's.

Here's another Hound In Flight type shot (yes, I have to try this with every lens).

One from my 1:1 Preset 50mm Macro Takumar (NICE lens!)

Looks like we're off to a good start on the POTW.

We had a good rain Friday night but the weekend was gorgeous. This was with my K200D and DA 35mm f2.8 Ltd. Macro.

After many years of restoration, this B-17 known as "Piccadilly Lilly", the last one retired from active service, finally got its rudder.

A re-enactor. The Dr-1 is my favorite plane, and is the type flown by the "Red Baron", Manfred von Richtofen.

Still working on my celebrity graves. This is a new marker :-)

Thanks for a second round hosting Eda. Those are vibrant iris shots!

I missed this thread last week, things have been rather stressful here. I wanted to toss in a few of the curious shots from the past week.

One is the hare that has taken up residence around my office building, well camouflaged for asphalt and I liked the pigeons so obviously undeterred by the spikes meant to keep them from nesting.
The final shot is an example of yarn-bombing, guerrilla knit work on a construction site on the campus of the local institute of technology.

Thanks for Hosting again Eda. And some interesting pics coming through. Jeff, that hound looks like its doing a good couple of Mph sprint.
Been doing some shots for the church images thread, and rust never sleeps thread, so not much to contribute thus far. Hopefully some more will be upcoming by this weekend.
Saw this in my car mirror, after tking some church images, and promptly took a shot.

These from last weeks visit to the Botanical Gardens

Damselfly. This is a rather large crop, 3072x2308 resized for 1024x768. Taken with the Pentax A Series 50mm and binocular lens. I think aperture was f11...Got several nice damselfly shots, but these blue ones were the most skittish. Finally managed to get close enough for the binocular lens rig, which is 6 inches or less. This was taken focused at infinity, which gives me about 6 inches focusing distance. At closest focus, which I got later, it's about 4 inches, as in the next shot. No editing done except crop and resize, and 20% contrast added to bring out detail better.

This one is a different individual, taken a few minutes earlier at closest focus. Cropped at 1280x960 and resized, no other editing. I'm always amazed when these guys let me get 4 inches away, especially the really skittish blue ones. Also shot a couple of brown ones that were much more willing to let me get close but these bright blue ones gave me fits.

Jumping Spider also taken yesterday with the infamous binocular lens rig. Spider, shadow and all would barely reach across a man's thumbnail. I really like the shadow in this shot. It's not perfect focus or exposure, but I think the shadow makes it worth showing off.

Cattle Egret taken a few days ago, and the cow's head being there was pure chance...Vivitar 200mm f3.5 lens, taken at f8.
