POTW Photo Of The Week #169 June 5, 2011 - June 19, 2011
Posted By: jmschrei, 06-12-2011, 02:27 PM

Welcome to edition 169 of the Pentax Forum's Picture of the Week. Thanks to JeffJS for hosting last week!

This edition covers photos from June 5 - June 19, 2011. That lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax (and Samsung) cameras in the parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas, learn from one another, and have a good time.

So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week. A special welcome to all new members!

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favourite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Here are the links to previous POTW threads:

Thanks for starting us off Photolady. I spent time today on the delta end of our local reservoir practicing with some grad ND filters I recently bought.

Thanks for hosting Joe. I had the tri-pod out this evening. I caught the first rose in my back yard.

a little bit of everything -

It has been a peaceful week - and I have had some wonderful opportunities to go out and play with my camera - of course, with dogs in tow - always makes it interesting. I just never know what I am going to see.

Joe, thanks for hosting us.

Back in Greece after a 3 month sojourn in the UK and so pleased of it despite the much higher daily temperatures. The superb quality of the light is a bonus and so different from the drab grey of the UK - encourages one to get out with the camera.

Having said that the only time I've had for picture taking has been a few hours in the evenings.

The small town of Oropos where I live is well-known for it's sunsets. A couple of days ago I was strolling by the sea and managed to catch a few interesting shots. One would think that a good sunset snap would be attractive cloud formation but I've found this not always to be so. As an example, the first shot was taken some time ago (non Pentax) and although it comes with a dramatic cloud effect, it doesn't have much else.

I was lucky to catch this little girl enjoying herself by the sea. Titled appropriately 'Joie de vivre'

Taken at the same time but showing a few clouds

Have a few more shots to be posted later

Joe, thanks for taking on the hosting duties once again. Great stuff coming through. John, I like these sunsets, specially that one with the kid.

A Harley Davidson promotion event happened not far from where I live, so thought I would visit and see what I could snap. Not a lover of motorcycles myself, but with all the hype about Harley's, its enough to get anyone interested. Free rides and demo's on offer. This guy took up the offer.

More Harleys

GreenPeace in tatter-say what?

Taken for the Portrait Panorama Challenge-a sight revisted (i've posted a similar image a while back)

Playing around with the shutter speed-1/4 sec

The greek wall- This opulent house has greek figures in abundance-Zeus, Aphrodites and the likes. It has been unfinished for over a year, so I am told.

I'm still going through my motorcycle shots from the weekend. A few I've posted elsewhere on the forum but will share them here also. All from Lake George on Friday night. The weather went downhill and the rain moved back in Saturday so it was only one day of shooting this year.

I was trying for the Tri-X film look here

SImilar shot without the B&W

One I posted in the DA 15 thread

Good sorts of photos this week already. I got my new lens today, it's a Samyang 100-500 A lens, so I took it for a stroll along the banks of my favorite water park. The two shots below were both handheld. I have a tripod but didn't bother setting it up as I was only testing the lens.

Ibis:

May be an immature blue heron. I couldn't find any real proof of this, but that's what I'm calling it.

Wow, some super cool shots this week.

I came into an inheritance of camera gear today. My Granddad had a nice kit for a casual photographer. K1000, K35MMF3.5, K55MMF2, Vivitar 90-230mm F4.5 Close Focus (by Tokina?), a Vivitar 2X TC and a couple other odds and ends. Toys to play with for a long time. My Mom loaded the camera with film before sending it, so I'm going to blast through whats left, and then get the foam replaced etc.

I have to commemorate this, so thanks for amusing me
