POTW #211, 14 April through 28 April 2012
Posted By: SpecialK, 04-22-2012, 03:11 PM

Welcome to edition #211 of the Pentax Forums' Picture of the Week. Thanks to Oldschool for hosting edition #210.

This edition covers photos from 14 April - 28 April 2012. That lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. It gives us all a chance to see what other members are up to with their Pentax (and Samsung) cameras in the parts of the world in which they live or have visited. We can share ideas, learn from one another, and have a good time. So show us what you've seen in your little corner of the planet! Looking forward to seeing all of what's out there this week. A special welcome to all new members!

Again same rules as always:

No theme, just post your favorite pix.
Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.
Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's Film, P&S, Mirrorless, or DSLR.
Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.
The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

SpecialK's note: I've left off the links to previous POTW's as a) it's getting a bit long, b) the links weren't active on the last thread, c) I had no way to quote Oldschool to get the HTML, and d) you know where to find the old threads.

A few from me over the past week in Oxford, UK. All taken with my K5, the first four with my D-FA 100mm f2.8 and the last one with my smc-A 50mm f1.4.

Thanks for hosting, SpecialK!
Great captures, mecrox. Really like the second one - good b/w conversion. Makes me wonder what the guy with the stick is protesting for/against...

I was struck by LBA once again and finally bought the DA 15 mm limited. Really a great little lens. The FOV is really amazing, but I still have to learn how to use the perspective. The past days I had a lot of fun testing this little gem.

Interesting sets there, mecrox and David! Thanks for hosting us, SpecialK.

I made it down to Georgia Tech for the spring football game Friday night.

#72 in white is the son of a friend:

As I captioned on Flickr, "Sports 'toggers love to show off their bodies."

We left before the fireworks began, but here's the view looking back towards the stadium.

Anyone for dessert? I'll take a chocolate malt, thank you!

Interesting knee braces on your friend's knees Pentaximus. Are they preventative or from previous injuries? I notice #93 has them also.

He and all of the linemen wear them to prevent injury. I suppose they help a little. Morgan himself has had no knee problems—just shoulder, hamstring, and ankle.

Lol, It was the annual arts 'n' crafts weekend here, hence Morris Dancing. I suspect this may be Morris Dancing "APL stylee" (= After Pub Lunch). The 15mm is a super lens as your pics show so well, I really like the colours and rendering when it's set to f9-f11.

Here's yet more butterfly shots, etc crossposted from other threads....the butterflies continue to swarm around our front porch bushes.

Off to a nice start!

Mecrox - that first umbrella shot has a lot character in the background. The next three are just characters :-)

David - I have found the 15mm is perfect for car shows. Close enough, but not too close. I like the bright path in the town scene.

pentaximus - it looks like Pentax can do sports. I love chocolate malts (or just about any ice cream).

ruggiex: Beautiful colors in the foliage that we don't see much of out here. The B/W is nicely abstract.

Kaiserz - I think all films shooters can relate to that sunset :-) Some of those bottles are expensive.

paulh - That first butterfly has unusual coloring. That second shot has especially nice composition. I guess you do not get our sea breeze?

ramseybuckeye - It looks like you have a new friends or two. Or maybe old friends?

Thanks for taking on hosting duties SpecialK, lovely stuff here already. David, I like those 15mm imiages (please send the lens to me when you decide you don't like it, which I suppose may never arrive) especially the 3rd image. It has such depth and character. Now I want to know where it is?
Pentaximus-those photographes look dangerous, what with their stance, they look like a bunch of snipers and sharp-shooters. Excellent image, well spotted and moment captured.

Been busy with the various challenges, these are mostly the left-overs

Coming back to life

For the low angle Challenge

Beautifully shaped grass/reed?? Looks like a well known kitchen utensil

Just liked this ornament from a friends home

Have a great week further!

Few more flower shots from the same set. Haven't done macro shot that much so I'm still learning DOF control. Hopefully it will become more natural soon! The lights were so harsh and I don't have filter for the 35mm yet I did HDR on these shots to preserve detail and colors.

Thanks, Noel! I keep you in mind in case I should ever grow tried of this lens (unlikely to happen soon). I took all images in and around Konstanz, Germany. The third photo was taken in the historic city center.
