To start off : I went to the local San Anselmo Art Festival yesterday , stopping by an used bookstore . Saw the book seller and asked for permission to shoot :

starting to get the hang of Expose Right with RAW and using Manual mode to improve the expoure. i find my K100D underexposes for my taste and by using the ETTR method, there's a lot more room in adjusting sensitivty in PP.

went out for dinner, the FA31 is THE lens for social occasions. absolutely reliable under all circumstances. food was from a Malaysian place, very yummy

Very nice low angle shoot of the festival.

That lens is obviously the real deal! Incredible detail and wonderful, rich color as well. Great catch!

I hesitate to post this here. This is not the result of applying a filter such as "illustration," though I did do some noise reduction and a little desaturation to heighten the effect. Let me know what you think.

Seaain - I like the photo . The fog adds to the mood and somewhat "lost" look of the deer .

I took a quick snap shot of this gentleman as he went by during the Art Festival. Just look at his camera. Perhaps one of those "stereo" one . I did not have a chance to ask him .

Peter, that butterfly shot is so good, it made me go look up that lens. Looks like it is pretty hefty, perhaps to hefty to shoot events with. I guess the DA*50-135 remains at the top of my wish-list, but that Sigma looks to be a fantastic lens...

Peter - That butterfly shot is outstanding . That lens is till on my wish list but K20D is next first .

I noticed the "face-painter " earlier that festival day but kept an eye on him because I was waiting for some kid with colorful shirt to show up ! My wait was rewarded : Matching color !

Thanks guys, Yes the Sigma is a great lens. This is the recently discontinued version (non-macro and no SDM) It's heavy but not even half the weight of the FA*80-200 f2.8 I used to have and an equal lens in other respects.
