Posted By: Syb, 08-03-2008, 02:36 PM

POTW : This week from Today Sunday 27th July to Sunday 3rd August.

Lets keep up the high standard of shots we have seen over the past weeks.

Rules as before:
1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week .
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Runs for 7 days <Sunday august 03> to <Sunday august 10>
5) Enter anything you shot last week or this current week until the thread closes.

Thanks for starting the thread Syb .... Nice shot - I am not sure maintenance is required, it may be beyond and now requires replacement
Here are a few from me - Click on image for larger view

Thanks Dave, the week has really started now. Nice shots of the small creek. Especially the one with the flowers!

And that fence of mine requires attention, I intentionally did not say repair. I think I will leave the fence untouched, and pay a little attention to it now and then. Say, for 1/125th of a second

Dromineer Rushes

I am pretty darned happy with this one. DA 16-45 at 19mm.

Houseboat Wake

Taken in Limerick on the Abbey River. Later in the day I was an hour away along the same waterway and what was pulling into the dock... the same houseboat! Either this was an enormous coincidence or they are the most laid-back spies ever and I'm being tailed!

Monkey Puzzle Tree

This looks like it has a subtle but odd halo effect as the result of some PP error or
other... but actually it pretty much looked like that IRL. An odd plant.

Rain, rain go away. It's been dismal here but grabbed a few macros between showers. FA50mm f2.8. First 2 could be a little sharper but they were handheld.

This is my first day hosting this thread and I'm having a great time! Come on, let's keep on getting these great shots across!

@ Troywhite: A surprising look at the temple of your national democracy: taken from a well chosen angle. The image has nice lines!

@ 2ipper: I saw those shots in other threads already, but especially the second one is still fascinating. Lighting a tree from the downside makes a weird impression.

@ Rparmar: great series. Water can make or break a photo. You succeeded in having it make yours.

@ Peter Zack: For an in-between-showers series, there are remarkably dry bugs. They are for a hand-held-shot-series, remarkably sharp! No flash used?

@ BPT: That's what I like about these threads: skipping from macro to wildlife, landscape panos and back.Impressive series of impressive mountains!Must have been a great hiking trip!

@ Borno: How many herons do you have nearby? Must be a lot, since you post them regularly. Great nature shots, especially the concentration and reflection in number two.

Troy: Love the graphical qualities of that shot --great angle.

Peter: Amazing and scary spider.

Brad: I'm glad you didn't cut down the tree, but you might want to clone out the wires. I like the Monk Lake shot best I think.

Tom: Never too many heron shots! One of these days I'm going to find out where they nest here.

Thanks Syb,
I think no. 2 is my favorite also. I don't remember seeing so many Heron as this year, alot of eagles too. Unfortunately the sprawl is reaching my little town so it's hard to find solitude. I try to keep my spot a secret (people with loose dogs really irk me)

There was much activity in our back garden today -- apparently it was ant mating time. Over the course of maybe an hour winged ants and a much smaller caste without wings emerged in excitement from their nest.

I believe the females are the large ones. They mate and then fly off to seek a new colony.

Perhaps these shots are more documentary than artistic. It was distracting getting covered with flying ants, plus I had to run to do other work, so I did not get as many shots as I should have.

Busy weekend! Nephew is designing jeans and wanted some pics of him modeling them. His brother had a BD party at a yummy but very dimly lit restaurant. And on the way home tried taking a few shots from the car
