Picture of the Week - 04-May-2009 to 117-May-2009 #61

Since Jezza223 is in the great down under and didn't receive notification to host, Gawan asked me to pick up the POTW for this period. I'm honored and happy to be part of the fun of the POTW threads!

Rules as before:

1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week .
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Date : Sunday 04/26/09 - Sunday 05/10/09 Enter anything you shot last week or this current week until the thread closes.

In my unhumble opinion the first photo should be titled "Confusion" and the second "Beauty lies in the eye of the junkman".

Certainly not the most noble of birds, but these vultures found a new home when a cell phone tower was erected in my neighbor's yard recently. Took this pic a few minutes ago, getting dark on a cloudy day...

Well folks here is what the wife and I ate on Saturday (ok ok there were about 36 other people there as well ). A friends 60th Birthday Party it was a tasty treat indeed. Took a long time we figured out at the end the pig needed to closer to the coals - about 11 hours to cook this guy (he was about 30 kilos or 70 pounds)

Now this is meat on a stick big time

upside down look

Head on look

The boys ready for the carving ...

After the fist round of feeding he needed to go back for a bit ....

A Walk around the block

Took a walk with my kids (no kid pics). Some shots from the woods around my house. First I think I make sumac look nice. the third photo a surprise as I was trying to keep up with a little yellow bird, missed him but he left me with an interesting photo

Virgil- thanks for hosting. Like the thinker in the first photo
RickL- a meeting of the minds all on their cell phones
jezza323 - nice race series. flames hot
daacon - no swine flu there

Awesome to see eight posts already!

Thanks for the feedback all- and I have to say, Dave, that is quite the interesting series on the devolution of "un cochon roti"!

Spooky flock of vultures, rickl- nice to see some texture and 'variant' on the bird theme..

jezza- nice saturation and intensity in your racetrack series- I really like the flameout tailpipe shot! Also nice to see the lowly kit lens out there taking great photos- goes to show that the man behind the camera makes the magic.

Scott- really like the lighting and texture in all your shots- esp. like the last shot of the leaves.

Yeah, eccs- let's hope we get to 100 posts again!

Thanks for hosting, virgilr. Just spent an hour repairing a bike, but it wasn't that bad, thankfully!

Rickl - funny place for a lawyers' convention

Jezza - I didn't know they had afterburners too...

Dave - after the steaks, now the whole darned hog. Hope no-one from PETA is watching you!

Scott - #3 almost looks like its hailing!

AOski - cute capture!

A couple of POTW's back I got chased off by a little killdeer. Back there today and I found out why.

Still trying to distract me away (from my truck!)

Mom's concerned

Here's why, on the car park side of the fence in the gravel paving, six feet from where my truck is parked..

But she thankfully decided I'm just a harrmless idiot with a camera.

Food for the eyes (DA 70mm)

and food for the tummy (FA 35mm)

('buchimgae' or 'chijimi' which is a Korean-style, savory and crispy pancake often containing green onions and chopped up shellfish and served with a dark vinegar and soy sauce mix).

Here some of mine. Yesterday, I was playing around with my M42 lenses. The first one is made with the Jupiter-9 85mm with ca. 5.5 cm of extension tubes, the second with the SMC-Macro Tak 50/4.
