Welcome to Picture of the Week 7/12/09 - 7/26/09 #71
Posted By: seacapt, 07-19-2009, 08:23 AM

Well Folks, to quote the imortal words of Tommy Chong, "Dave's not here man" but he did ask me to host this week.. I'll try to do my best to be a good host and you guys please post lots of pictures. So without any further formality , lets get this thing rolling!
Ken

Once again same rules and really other than time frames there are no rules

1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Date : Sunday 07/12/09 to Sunday 07/26/09. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

The wife had me on slave duty yesterday but when she went to the store for a bit I grabbed the camera. When I only have a little bit of time I go to the lantana flowers because there is allways something to see..
I don't know what the little tiny bug with the racing stripes is but he's about 1/2 the size of a grain of rice and I named him Little Jeff Gordon.

Thanks for hosting seacapt - I had that Album BTW ahh Cheech and Chong memories ....

Nice start I like the close ups nice butterfly. Good use of your unsupervised time haha

Photolady - well done I enjoy the nature shot - great bokeh and the way the light hits them looks like many different colors there.

Well I am still in Vegas - taking a break from 'investing in the casinos' off to see a Cirque show tonight. Here are a few from last might - the Volcano erruption at the Mirage Hotel

Some from earlier today. NYC around Union Square
This was to be my submission to Project 52 but the contest closed b4 I could submit it...Grrrr.

Dad and mom
George Washington, "the Father of our Country" and the Empire State Building, arguably "the Mother of all Skyscrapers"

What money doesn't go to Adorama, ends up here. NYC's flagship Barnes and Noble. Books were certainly my first love and probably still are. The first four floors have books, the top two are for administration. Still enough books to keep me happy for months!

Thanks for starting seacapt. Great heron shot borno! Was trying to get a good shot of a Great blue yesterday, unfortunatly I startled it before I got to a good "photogenic" position.

Testing out some extension rings:

Thanks for hosting this week, seacapt, and nice insect macros to start it off

It's still way hot around here - 104F again today and expected to stay the same - so more swimming than picturing going on round here.

Here are a few macros from the last week.

Good Day All, Glad to see we're off to a great start.

Photolady - Lovely bokeh and colors on the maple leaf shot. I don't remember maple growing near the Indian River . On vacation?
Dave - Thanks for "checking in" , nice night shots. Will we be posting any Show Girl pics? Enjoy!
Tom - Very classic look on the heron shot. You must have stealth down to an art , I can never seem to get close enough to a heron when I have a camera.
NaClH2O - Love the Dad & Mom shot , very well composed and executed.
Plankton - You nailed that moth's eye! Is it my moth's cousin?
Ohce - Cute Kid , Love the second shot.
Kevin - very nice macros! Colors on the first dragonfly are killer and the first spider shot gave me chills!
xjjohnno - I think that parrot is just playing with you.

Keep the good work coming in!

Driving home from work Fri. I was looking for interesting archetecture for project 52 and something about this church caught my eye. The pillars on the gazebo are made from oyster shells.
