Posted By: daacon, 10-04-2009, 05:30 PM

Welcome to Picture of the Week #82 09/27/2009 - 10/11/2009

Thanks Jeff (legacyb4) for hosting last weeks POTW thread it can be found Here

Once again same rules and really other than time frames there are no rules

1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Date : Sunday 09/27/2009 to Sunday - Sunday 10/13/2009. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

Previous hosts: (each one is a hotlink to that POTW thread to look past at the previous 81 weeks Thanks to Peter who started the links it was a lot of editing )

Thanks for hosting Dave
Here is one of the few shots I got with my k20d sat. am that were any good, I think the focus is crappy since I accidently dropped it a couple weeks ago. A wasp got in my shirt and started stinging my armpit as I was getting into my car.

Tom - I think that is spot on as well - maybe you notice it in the large size. I don't want to talk about dropped equipment let's just say mine was much worse.

Jeff - I really miss the reds in fall. Great colors. We have lots of yellows here not so many reds.

Hot off the presses about an hour or so ago. My daughter has a part time job with a company called Sports Ball. She is one of the instructors, basically it's an activity / sports camps for kids. Here she is praticing the hoola-hoop in backyard. These were taken at dusk so I had to bump the ISO to 3200 to get a decent shutter speed,so not the sharpest shots, but I love her laughter after the first attempt from hip to head failed (she did make it on the next attempt) Taken with the DA 35LTD

Thanks for hosting, Dave. I love the laugh.

I've been neglecting my FA50 1.4 since I bought my DA*50-135 and DA*16-50, so I brought it out today to shoot an iris in the back garden.

Thanks for hosting Dave, lovely shots so far from everyone.
I investigated another park along our wildlife corridors to see what the denizens were up to. For the Melbournians the park is called Organ Pipes and here are some of the non feral discoveries.
A black wallaby

A yellow robin

A black faced cockatoo shrike.

And this tiny little fella, a yellow thornbill I believe.

Good work John, is that the Bigma in action there?

Forgot to post this one after the excitement of ship sinking last week. I missed the wind by half an hour, so made do by getting a couple of shots of mates still in the air:

This batch are the Bigma Dale. I gotta say I'm also exceedingly impressed with the Tair 300, but for Organ Pipes I was getting the feeling the Bigma was a little short on occassion due to all the smaller bird species there.

I've been enjoying your bird images of inner Melbourne. I can see that lust for focal length could end up bankrupting you!

Edit: Good shot there Ash.

tpeace - I like the first two - nice sky in the palm tree shot. Great football action shots - I see a flag on the play. Well done.

RichardS - thanks for the comments. It's a very infectious laugh for sure. The 50 1.4 renders lovely bokeh and sharp shots. I need to take the 50 1.7 out for a spin.

xjjohono - seems you found some new grounds. The bigma is a great lens (for good light). Very good focus on the birds hidden in the branches.

Dale - that was a pretty amazing shot last week. This is one is good as well. Were you up on a hill ? What lens ?

Ash - nothing says spring / summer like youngs ones playing in the water. I like this shot.

Great start all.

I used my Sigma 17-70 for that shot. Stood on the end of the launch ramp at our local coastal flying site. I grabbed a couple of shots before setting up my glider.

Here is another of a friend getting an assist on launch:

@dave - looks like she's having a lot of fun; should see if my daughter can manage one
@ RichardS - I need to get my hands on an FA 50 to play around with! Nice crisp shots.
@ Dale - that hang glider shot is awesome; looks almost superimposed with the colors!
@ john - love the different wildlife you Aussies get! I'd trade a bear for a wallaby anyday!
@carl - Earring of some sort, no? Dunking objects in 7-up?

DA* 50-135; I'll call this set "Laughter & Tears"; the range of emotions a 3 year old can go through in a few hours is positively amazing.
