Picture of the week #93: Dec. 13-Dec 27
Posted By: reeftool, 12-20-2009, 05:30 AM

Stevebrot passed the baton to me for this week. Like Steve, I have posted to this thread often but never have hosted. I hope everyone has has had their cameras out and been shooting away!

Picture of the Week 92 : 13 Dec - 27 Dec 2009

This is a favorite thread for most of us. With Christmas upon us it's going to be nice to see the Holiday traditions from around the world. Also that record snowstorm along the East Coast of the US should have a lot of cameras going.

Again same rules and really other than time frames there are no rules
1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Date : Sunday, 6 Dec 2009 to Sunday, 20 Dec 2009. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.
5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via PM. If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between 12:00EST and 5PM EST on the Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator.

Previous hosts: Each one is a hotlink to that POTW thread to look past at the previous 91 weeks.

I'll start off with a few shots from yesterday. I was attending a junior high girls basketball game at my granddaughters school. She is a cheerleader this year and I have been shooting some pics and also some video. The lighting isn't good and the only fairly fast lens I have is my vintage 55/f2 Tak which came with my Spotmatic 30 some years ago. I was quite happy with the results. I shot at ISO 1600 and f/2.8 which enabled me to use a 1/250 shutter speed for most of my shots.

Nice shots Rense and JanVan. I see the winter weather seems to be kicking in on both sides of the world.

I just noticed I forgot to change the date in one spot in the intorduction post. I'm not sure how to change it at this point but Mods, please feel free to correct it. Been having far too many senior moments I guess. Sorry for the mistake.

We also got our first major snow here in the northeast US yesterday. Actually it was a December record of about 23 inches.

Snow! Well I don't think mother nature took this winter seriously (at least here in Hungary) just until yesterday.

I took these in our garden two days ago:

Some snow was already there but it really started yesteday afternoon:

and this is how it looked like in the evening:

It certainly looks like winter is here for everybody on the northern end of the globe. We missed out on all the fun this time around, not that I'm complaining. It's been well below 0F for a few days so I don't know what's worse snow or the cold.

Oldschool - Nice shots of the Snow. I wouldn't want to be digging out of that street. I hope Philly has some decent equipment.
planedriver - nice snow shots also. I love that first one. Ice and snow on a blooming flower isn't a common sight. Our winter came late also. Very mild through November and then it changed all at once and hasn't let up.
daacon - Nice pano Dave. That scene and the fireplace go very well together. We are having similar temperatures around here, perhaps a bit warmer but not much. I'm outside all night getting trucks moving so winter isn't much of a novelty at the moment. Sitting by a warm fireplace is the place to be in this weather.

Another winter capture! Shot with the M 75-150/4 zoom, and the catch in focus on the K20d... I explained a little in my blog.
