Nice pose, lighting and colours.

However, that branch right behind the bird's head is extremely distracting. Try cloning it out.

Thanks for the comments. I had noticed the branch and thought about choosing this photo to submit rather than another, but liked the pose anyway even thought the stick distracts a bit. Anyway, I prefer my photographs in a relatively natural state, and it is one of those things that was really there.

I will post another of the same bird taken a few moments before this photo was taken.
