Unknown Caterpillar
| Description |
This is taken with my K20D, AF140 ring flash, and 3 stop neutral density filter at ISO/100 and f/19.
The AF140 fires only on full power with the K20D, but I discovered that using a 3 stop neutral density filter I could correctly expose 1:1 shots at f/32 and ISO/100. Larger critters could be shot with a larger aperture and/or a higher ISO. Focusing is difficult because of the filter, so I sometimes trained a bright halogen flashlight on the subject.
These caterpillars are lovely, but toxic to touch. Notice the false eye spots on its hind end. Anybody know what it is?
