Title Eureka Mine Entrance
Description I was actually hoping to explore this mine and was disappointed to see it was flooded when I got there. Since I seemed to have all this extra time on my hands, I decided to at least try to walk away with something and to at least get a shot of the entrance. I tried using my in camera flash but that didn't work out well at all and as a last ditch attempt I settled for trying several different time exposures. So I tucked in the entrance a bit and waited for some dense clouds to roll in. I really expected the light range to be too strong but was pleasantly surprised to see that I was even able to capture detail in the farthest depths of the mine at F5.6 @ 20 seconds.

Eureka Mine Entrance

There is something about this I can't put my finger on; why would I like a picture of a hole in the ground?
Seriously, the colours and texture in the rock takes the viewers interest, and it's great that the detail into the rear of the hole is so good.
Question; why expose for 20 seconds on ISO 100? Why not shorten the exposure with higher sensitivity?
