high street
| Description |
grossglockner hochalpenstrasse (high alpine road). this is an amazing feat of engineering, it goes up to about 2500m, and is over 30km long. it ends at the base of the highest peak in austria (grossglockner), and the biggest glacier in austria. the influence nature had on the shape of the road is obvious (and the tires will squeak accordingly, and the breaks will start to smell.. ), the influence the road has, just by being there, is obvious too, and mostly sad (for me): the problems arising when you make such high alpine areas accessible to anybody are mindblowing. but this is left to the viewer to think about. enjoy
