Recently my wife bought us two tickets to the James Blunt concert in Beijing. First, let me say that his music wasn't at all what I expected and I was impressed with the show. More importantly, knowing that we're in China means there's no way they can confiscate cameras at the security check since everyone has cell phones with high rez cameras built in. I'm pretty new to photography, and don't have a lot to choose from in my equipment. I knew we didn't have seats close to the stage and figured if I could only bring one lens it would be the 55-300 kit lens. I've heard lots of great things about the K-x in low light with high ISO, but never really thought much of it until I started comparing shots with the two girls next to me. One had a Sony, the other a Canon. Granted, the LCD on the back of my K-x is pretty low quality, but it was pretty obvious that their shots were all either too blurry or too noisy. We were probably all in the "beginners" category, but I was pretty pleased with how well I think some of my shots turned out. This is my first time using an SLR at any rock concert. The last time I tried to take concert pictures was in '98 at a U2 concert with a disposable camera that I put in a spot where being frisked wasn't likely to reach.
