I've been out of photography for more than 10 years now, not having tried to "make" a photograph during that time. However, I've never felt that photography has been out of me. Last month I got back into it and realized that digital is whole new ballgame compared to film. So in my research I discovered high dynamic range (HDR) photography. Over the weekend I found myself watching videos on HDR into the wee hours of the morning. Check out stuckincustoms.com - Trey Ratcliff is a master at HDR. He's got videos on his site and on YouTube as well. So after seeing what's possible w/ HDR I got very excited, motivated and inspired.
This photo represents my first attempt at HDR. It's a combination of 5 images (-2, -1, 0, +1, +2). I combined them in photomatix and then made the final adjustments in Photoshop CS3 (Yes, I know I need to upgrade).
GEAR: Taken w/ a Pentax 645D loaded up with Hoodman SD cars. Lens: Pentax 645 FA 35mm set a f/11. I didn't have any kind of filter on the lens.
EXPOSURES: Around 1/2 second or so on the -2, and as long as 20 seconds for the +2.
I would appreciate any comments and constructive criticism.
Thanks,
Frank
