I'm currently attending my 3rd year in Pharmacy school in DC but have never had the opportunity to take pictures of this city. Since my relatively recent purchase of the K100D in May, i've been itching to go and capture some of the DC beauty but have always had something get in the way whether it be tests or work or BOTH! Well i recently purchased a tripod and a wireless remote and the "itch" finally won. Without any experience in night photography, i decided my first night picture would be of the Jefferson Memorial which seemingly appears to float on the Potomac River. I had many trial and errors and finally found a combination of focal length/aperature setting/exposure time that worked well. This photo was taken at f/22 with an exposure time of 20 seconds using a K100D and a SMC A 50mm f/1.7 manual lens. I love Pentax.
