When on a recent cruise, I had spent most of time on the upper decks of the ship taking photos. I just happened to venture to the lower decks where I was closer to the water, and didn't have any obstructions blocking my view of the water coming off of the bow of the ship. I highly advise that if you're on a cruise, go to the lower levels for more of ground-level perspective. Otherwise, you'll be 14 stories up looking down onto your subjects.
The original color image was dark turquoise green, as this is glacier water, and looked very bland and had very flat contrast. I converted the image to B&W with Nik Software's Color Efex while in LR4 and cropped the image as you see it to remove any clues of scale. It's a little soft, but I think the softness adds to the abstract image so I didn't use any sharpening or clarity.
